CAFE CASHIER at Forrest General Hospital – Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Manager, accurately operates the cash register for collection of cash and charges on sold goods. Accuracy and speed are essential. Must reconcile/record monies, resolve performance variances, generate reports, trouble shoot register problems, and post menus. Maintains a clean, orderly, and well stocked work station. Performs sanitation duties throughout the retail food court, serves at steam table and provides customer service from the grill location. Refers complaints and issues to Supervisor for resolution. Assures a hospitable environment for staff and visitors and assists those with disabilities. Assists with maintenance of front-of-the-house by stocking supplies, cleaning spills, removing garbage and performing other duties as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while begin sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Performance Expectations:

· Demonstrate ability to receive, rotate, stock and distribute food and supplies

· Demonstrate ability to work in freezer, cooler and dry storage

· Demonstrate ability to read and follow recipes

· Demonstrate ability to efficiently and safely run all equipment including but not limited to grill, food processors, choppers and mixers

· Maintain clean and sanitary work area.

· Demonstrate ability to run cash register, make change as needed and balance at end of shift

· Demonstrate ability to take phone orders

· Demonstrate ability to deliver meals to patients in a friendly manner

· Demonstrate ability to effectively wash and sanitize dishes, keep floors clean and dry

· Demonstrate ability to keep dining room clean and stocked

· Demonstrate ability to follow direction of management

· Demonstrate willingness to assist in other areas as needed

Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong background in math preferred.

Work Experience:

Work experience of one year preferred. On the job training provided

Mental Demands:

Ability to accurately perform repetitive tasks under time pressures. Must deal with customers in a friendly and helpful manner even when customers are difficult to deal with.
