Position Title: Home Supervisor
Reports To: Clinical Director
Status: Full-Time
Location: Jenison, MI
Position Summary
The Home Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations and staff of a residential home, ensuring high-quality direct care and a nurturing environment for residents. This role serves as a bridge between direct care and administration, maintaining regulatory compliance while championing the mission, vision, and quality of life standards of Harbor House Ministries.
Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of two years in a supervisory or leadership role. Preferred five years of experience working as a Direct Caregiver at Harbor House Ministries or a related setting.
• Certification: Current Medical Assistant (MA) Certification, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse preferred.
• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate and build relationships with individuals of all cognitive abilities.
• Requirements: Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic charting and basic office software.
Essential Job Functions
Leadership & Staff Management
• Supervise, train, and mentor subordinate staff, including Lead Aides and Resident Aides.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing coaching, and manage documentation for personnel actions.
• Partner with Training & Development Manager for staff orientation and facilitate opportunities for ongoing professional development.
• Lead home-specific staff meetings and participate in Clinical Management Team meetings.
Resident Care & Advocacy
• Provide direct personal care and Community Living Support (CLS) to residents as needed.
• Coordinate medical care, including scheduling and attending appointments with families, physicians, and specialists.
• Oversee medication management: receiving, documenting, and passing medications per policy, including routine inventory.
• Promote resident engagement through community, church, and in-house activities.
Operations & Compliance
• Ensure the home remains compliant with Harbor House policies and regulatory standards (licensing, CARF, LRE, MDHHS, etc.).
• Maintain accurate resident medical records, prescriptions, and documentation.
• Oversee home environments to ensure excellent standards of cleanliness, fire safety, and maintenance.
• Manage resident supplies and inventory efficiently.
Communication & Support
• Serve as the primary point of contact for families, guardians, staff, and assigned care team members.
• Participate in the on-call rotation (including every other weekend) and act as back-up for Lead Aides during scheduling emergencies.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
• Observation & Communication: Ability to accurately read medical documentation, monitor resident well-being, and communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff in person and via technology.
• Stamina & Strength: Ability to lift 50 lbs. (independently or as a two-person assist) and perform repetitive physical tasks associated with resident care.
• Cognitive Reasoning: Ability to reason, problem-solve complex issues, and remain calm under pressure (e.g., CPR/First Aid emergencies or trauma-informed interventions).
• Attendance: Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this supervisory role.
