Position: Elementary Ministry and Volunteer Coordinator
Department: Children’s Ministry
Reports to: Family Ministry Director
Work Hours: Full-time; Sunday-Thursday
Salary: $52,500 - $61,250 / year
Position Summary:
The Elementary Ministry and Volunteer Coordinator is committed to the mission of Redeemer East Side and is a gifted and growing leader in child-specific ministry with an emphasis in elementary aged ministry. This person will work alongside the Family Ministry Director to lead a ministry that is gospel- centered, age appropriate, and fits in with the overall vision of Redeemer East Side Children’s Ministry. They are responsible for programming, curriculum, mid-week discipleship, special needs ministry and events for elementary age children. They will work to provide a safe environment that guides elementary children to know and trust Jesus. This person also owns volunteer recruitment and is responsible for creating an enthusiastic and engaging volunteer culture, facilitated through servant-leadership, for the East Side children’s ministry as a whole. They will provide leadership to PT Sunday staff and volunteer teams in an environment of coaching, care and encouragement. From Sundays to mid-week to summer camp, with a focus on creativity and intentionality, this person will ensure that every moment in elementary ministry is designed to engage, inspire, and connect children to their faith.
General Responsibilities:
Oversee the planning and administration of elementary programs (Kindergarten-5th grade)Establish goals for the elementary ministry and implement strategies for growth and evangelism in alignment with the East Side children’s ministry objectivesIntegrate yearly theme into elementary programs and eventsOversee all Sunday Elementary Programming for 3 services (9am, 11am, 5pm) CurriculumChildren’s Worship and teaching for K-3 (large group lesson, music and small group application) Unique class programming (ID ⅘ class, Mustard Seeds-special needs class)Volunteer assignmentsDesign engaging, immersive, and memorable experiences for children by blending creativity with biblical teaching to ensure children have opportunities to develop a deep connection to God’s word during children’s worship, classes and events Work alongside the children's ministry team to creatively plan the yearly calendar for elementary programs that include the weekly programs, mid-week events as well as large scale special events and campsWork alongside the children's ministry team to lead/assist all children and family events throughout the year- owning from start to finish multiple areas of each eventPrepare children’s bulletin for corporate worship for Sundays and special servicesOrder and organize all necessary supplies for classrooms, regularly taking stock and cleaning out cabinets and closets and classroomsCreate classroom and 5th floor environment (signs, pictures on walls, printables, furniture, etc.) that communicates welcome and facilitates discipleship and clear communication Develop, edit and implement multiple curricula for elementary classes that is creative, gospel centered, age appropriate, worshipful, urban contextual and cross-culturalCreate and maintain scope and sequence for the year with strategic alignment across all age classroomsRegularly research new curriculums, tools and children’s ministry activities to refine curriculum and programming to fit the most current needs of Redeemer East Side elementary childrenUse good stewardship in planning and purchasing, and submit expenses in a timely mannerRequires working a nontraditional schedule which includes Sundays weekly and may include evenings, weekends and offsite events seasonallyVolunteer Coordination Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a strategy for effectively recruiting lay leaders for all of children’s ministryWork alongside communications manager to promote recruiting effortsRecruit and equip lay leaders and teachers through training, care and encouragementManage volunteer pipeline through Planning Center (Oversee application process, check references, initiate background checks, schedule visits with correct coordinator, interview, and train)Manage and schedule all current weekly elementary leaders through Planning Center ServicesTrain and equip all elementary leaders to effectively minister to children with at least 2 large scale volunteer trainings each year and weekly touchpoints Build a safe and transparent community among the elementary leaders and provide individual shepherding and care on a regular basisLead a time of prayer, devotional and announcements with the elementary leaders weeklyLead yearly lay leader appreciation effortsManage and schedule elementary parent volunteers on rotation to serve 3 times a year in the elementary programUtilize Mailchimp regularly to communicate with large groups of parents and lay leaders4th and 5th Grade (ID ⅘) Responsibilities:
Create a culture of “pre-youth” community through discussion, Bible relevance and theological exploration, excitement and fun for this age groupPlan, develop and edit all 4th and 5th grade curriculumPlan mid-week discipleship and community building events throughout the year Work with the Youth ministry team to develop and execute a consistent strategy to smoothly transition 5th graders to middle school ministrySupport Communicant’s class and children’s membership process as neededMustard Seeds (Special Needs) Responsibilities:
Plan, develop and edit all special needs curriculumOversee special needs PT teacher and lay leader team through training, care and encouragementRegularly research, innovate, and implement new resources and creative ideas for special needs and disability ministriesCollaborate with PT special needs teacher to create spiritual and classroom goals for each mustard seeds studentCommunicate regularly with individual mustard seeds parents to receive feedback and adjust programming to fit current needs of childrenDevelop and execute strategy to connect with special needs community on the upper east side to grow the mustard seeds ministry Lead seasonal respite events for mustard seeds familiesJob Qualifications:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set; experience and training; licensure, certifications, and ordination; and other organizational needs.
