About This Position
Summary: Provides Speech Language Pathology services to patients of all ages including adolescents, adults and geriatric patients who are referred; Evaluates disorders of speech, articulation, fluency, voice, language, oral pharyngeal function or cognitive communicative function of the patient; Develops goals and treatment plan in conjunction with the patient and family/significant other; Executes treatment program; Provides education to patients, families and caregivers; Supervises Speech Language Pathology students and support staff in compliance with hospital and state regulatory policies. Must meet departmental per diem requirements as set forth by management.
Education: Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from a Speech Language Pathology program accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association; Passing score on ASHA national exam; Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association, Clinical Fellows considered.
Licensure: License and/or eligible for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist from the Department of Health, Division of Professional Regulation, State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. BLS required.
Experience: One year experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
· Speech Language Pathology theory, assessment and treatment techniques; ability to perform
· Modified Barium
· Swallow studies; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients
· Skills in organization, time management and priority setting.
· Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with peers and other disciplines.
· Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and caregivers and demonstrating sensitivity to age, spiritual, and cultural diversity of customers
· Ability to instruct patients, caregivers and their families
· Proficiency in English grammar, spelling & punctuation
· Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)
· Demonstrated customer service skills
· Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers
· Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines
· Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams.
