Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Support EMC, EMI, and ESD testing activities for MSA electronic safety products throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Set up, execute, and document EMC compliance and pre-compliance tests in accordance with applicable international standards.
  • Assist engineering teams with troubleshooting and mitigation of EMC-related issues.
  • Operate and maintain EMC test equipment including spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, LISNs, signal generators, ESD simulators, RF amplifiers, and associated software tools.
  • Work closely with internal teams and third-party EMC test laboratories to plan, execute, and complete EMC testing for new and existing products.
  • Assist with preparation of test plans, test reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Support basic hardware modifications and rework for EMC investigations.
  • Participate in design and test readiness reviews to ensure EMC requirements are addressed.
  • Maintain EMC lab organization, equipment readiness, calibration status, and safety procedures.
  • Support EMC laboratory accreditation activities in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, including documentation, audits, and corrective actions.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong hands-on technical aptitude with electronic hardware and test equipment.
  • Ability to follow test procedures, work instructions, and quality systems with high attention to detail.
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Organized, methodical, and safety-conscious.
  • Minimal travel required (less than 10%).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience performing EMC, EMI, and ESD testing in a compliance or pre-compliance environment.
  • Familiarity with EMC standards such as FCC, CISPR, and IEC.
  • Experience working in semi-anechoic chambers and shielded test environments.
  • Exposure to ISO/IEC 17025–accredited laboratories.
  • Experience using Altium, Cadence Allegro, and viewing schematics and PCB layouts.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field is a plus.

This position is available at multiple career levels based upon experience and education:

Engineering Technician II: 2 years of relevant hands-on laboratory or EMC testing experience.

Engineering Technician III: 5 years of relevant hands-on laboratory or EMC testing experience.

Lead Technician: 8 years of relevant hands-on laboratory or EMC testing experience.
