About This Position

Description:

Job Summary:

The Career Coach is responsible for working with adults with mental health-related issues to assist them in finding and maintaining competitive employment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Engages individuals in a personal, supportive manner, creating relationships that emphasize wellness and recovery.
  • Provides individuals with services consistent with the department goals and outcomes. This may include individual, group and/or support services. This may include providing services at the program site and/or in the community.
  • Develops and delivers both group and individualized curriculum to build appropriate employment related social skills such as appropriate dress habits, boundary setting, communication skills and stress management strategies.
  • Develops and delivers curriculum to support employment search and retainment skills such as resume writing, interviewing skills, email etiquette, understanding performance reviews, understanding work provided benefits, and advocating for reasonable accommodations.
  • Provides job retention supports for program participants including on/off the job coaching and connections to basic needs resources.
  • Collaborates with community resources and makes referrals as necessary.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation in a timely manner consistent with department requirements and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensures organizational policies and procedures are adhered to consistent with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Supports an organizational culture of being culturally sensitive and trauma informed.
  • Schedules meetings and appointments (both in person and virtually) as needed. Ensures all attendees have communication regarding meeting location, etc.
  • Attends meetings as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree required.
  • 1 years’ experience in employment related services preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities required.
  • Experience working with youth preferred.
  • CASE Certification required to be completed within 1 year of hire.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:

  • Reliable transportation for travel to community sites.
  • Ability to operate various office equipment including computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, photocopier, scanner, and calculator.
  • Computer Software: Electronic Health Record experience preferred; Paylocity, Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle a variety of work assignments and to think creatively.
  • Capable of working both independently and as an interdependent member of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and groups successfully with sensitivity and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds and practices.
  • Knowledge of community employment resources.
  • Personal lived experience with mental health is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to exert up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Finger dexterity required to operate telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Hearing at a level to enable one to hear normal conversation.
  • Visual requirements of having the ability to read documents, the computer screen, etc.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a typical office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Work Hours:

  • The standard work week is 35 hours, Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. Flexible work hours may be required on occasion.

Compensation:

  • Compensation will be $23/hr.
