Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
A Research Instructor position is immediately available in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh in the laboratory of Dr. Adam C. Straub. The Straub laboratory focuses on endothelial redox biology and mechanisms of vascular remodeling. This position will investigate the role of cytochrome b5 reductases in regulating redox signaling within the cardiovascular system and their contributions to cardiovascular disease. The research program integrates mechanistic studies in cultured endothelial cells and mouse models with advanced multi-omics approaches, including bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, metabolomics, and proteomics, as well as quantitative imaging and targeted gene delivery and rescue strategies. The overarching goal is to translate redox-metabolic mechanisms into novel therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular disease. he successful Candidate will primarily contribute to ongoing NIH-funded projects, providing scientific guidance and oversight to postdoctoral fellows and trainees, while supporting the development of new research directions. Responsibilities will also include contributing to grant writing and manuscript preparation in close collaboration with the principal investigator. This role is designed as a collaborative, team-oriented position to advance established research programs rather than as an independent faculty development track.
Candidates should have 5+ years of postdoctoral research experience, a strong publication record, and demonstrated expertise in endothelial/vascular biology and redox signaling, including experience with in vitro and in vivo models, intermediate to advance programming/bioinformatics skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience. Applications from women and minorities are strongly encouraged. To apply for the position, qualified candidates with a PhD in biochemistry, genetics, cell biology of a related discipline are invited to complete an application in Talent Center at https://www.join.pitt.edu/#26001567.
