The Personal Support Specialist (PSS) plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals requiring assistance with daily living activities, particularly those with physical or cognitive challenges. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or training in personal support work or a related healthcare field.
- Demonstrated experience or training in incontinence management and bathing assistance.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet state-specific healthcare requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a Personal Support Specialist or in a similar caregiving role.
- Personal Support Certificate.
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with incontinence management, including timely and hygienic care to prevent discomfort and health complications.
- Provide support with bathing and personal hygiene, ensuring client safety, privacy, and comfort throughout the process.
- Monitor and report any changes in clients’ physical or emotional condition to healthcare supervisors or family members.
- Help clients with mobility and positioning to prevent pressure sores and promote circulation.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and follow individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate care and address concerns.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and confidentiality regulations and guidelines.
