About the Role:

The Acute Care Nursing Professional Development Practitioner (NPD Practitioner) at Sinai Hospital, under limited supervision, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive education and professional development programs for the Acute Care Service Line, including Medical-Surgical units and Medical-Surgical units with Telemetry. Grounded in adult learning principles and aligned with the ANA Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards, this role promotes clinical excellence through onboarding oversight, competency validation, and at-the-elbow education. Candidates should bring strong peri-anesthesia and/or critical care experience to effectively support high-acuity patient populations and complex procedural care. The NPD Practitioner partners with interdisciplinary leaders and frontline clinical team members as a facilitator, mentor, and advisor to advance quality improvement and ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and evaluates education programs for the Medical-Surgical units and Medical-Surgical units with Telemetry using adult learning principles and professional development standards.
  • Provides leadership, support, and supervision for frontline team members in Medical-Surgical units and Medical-Surgical units with Telemetry.
  • Partners with service line leadership and interdisciplinary teams to advance quality improvement initiatives, regulatory readiness, and hospital-wide education priorities.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; master’s degree preferred.

Licensure: Current Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license required; American Heart Association issued BLS required.

Certification: National certification preferred (e.g., Nursing Specialty, Nursing Professional Development, or ASTD); additional certifications as appropriate, including AHA ACLS, NRP, PALS, and corresponding Instructor certifications.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Medical-Surgical units and/or Medical-Surgical units with Telemetry experience required; previous education or teaching experience preferred.
