About This Position
Coordinates monthly financial information utilizing the applicable support systems. Duties include preparing journal entries, reconciling the balance sheet, and analyzing variances. Prepares the monthly financial report by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system. Supports payroll processing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, as needed. Researches and compiles information for the preparation of the EAA’s annual GFOA Award reports and assists with the report preparation/submission. Initiates the budget process, coordinates the review process with all departments and assists with the preparation of the final annual budget. Prepares audit schedules and other workpapers as requested. Prepares the EAA investment status report support, special financial reports, and other cost analysis reports for special purchases. Organizes and schedules all Surplus Sales for the EAA. Maintains fixed assets to include the assigning of asset tags, reviewing for validity and reclassifying as needed in the financial system. Prepares, coordinates, reviews, issues and monitors procurement related documents, requests and contracts under the supervision and guidance of the Controller. Documents internal processes and procedures. Works under general supervision and direct guidance from the supervisor on matters related to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy positions. Work is generally independent and proceeds on own initiative while complying with policies, practices, processes, and procedures established by the supervisor. Exercises discretion and independent judgment on significant matters. Refers more complex matters to the supervisor. Works collaboratively with others. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance plus minimum of five years of relevant experience with month-end close activities, preparation of financial statements and budgeting or master’s degree plus three years of relevant experience. Possess strong research, analytical, problem solving and investigative skills. Experience with computerized accounting systems. Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic with a positive can-do sense of urgency attitude. Use of Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel (intermediate to advanced), PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong oral, written and organization skills. Ability to interact with all levels of customers, vendors, and staff. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and responsibility. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Job performance may require listening, seeing, sitting, talking, occasional reaching, grasping, lifting, handling, pulling or pushing, balancing and carrying of items such as boxes of materials, books, etc. with weights not exceeding 25 pounds; limited walking, standing, stooping, and bending; some irregular hours and long workdays and moderate levels of stress. Job is performed primarily in an office environment with infrequent trips to other offices and limited exposure to weather conditions.
