Job Description
Responsibilities specific to the role
- Run CNC and manual machines of a single type independently. (Milling or Turning Center)
- Ability to read and understand CNC code to the level required for machine set up and operation independently.
- Understand all set up parameters and the effect that they have on the process, for example, datum setting and tool length and wear offsets independently.
- Perform moderate/complex production set up’s independently with the required work holding and tooling in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Create fixtures using drawings supplied by Engineering.
- Perform tool offsets as needed independently-Change Tool numbers offsets, speeds, feeds
- Operate all floor measurement instruments: Microheight, micrometers, calipers, Cordax, etc
- Complete machining operations efficiently in accordance with Job Card instructions to achieve the required output levels.
- Ensure parts are handled and protected in a suitable manner to prevent damage during operations and movement.
General responsibilities;
- Comply with all company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Read and understand the requirements on the work instructions for the operation to be carried out.
- Ensure that all the documentation required to carry out the operation in accordance with the work instructions is available at the point of use and at the correct revision.
- Read and understand all manufacturing instructions prior to commencing an operation, this includes CNC Programs, Set Up Instructions, Tooling Control Sheets (TCS) as required, Engineering Drawings, Data Cards, Operation Inspection Plans (OIP) etc.
- Ensure that components identified as non-conforming during in process inspection are identified and communicated in accordance with the Non-Conformance Procedure.
- Complete all work booking requirements within the ERP system to ensure accurate WIP records.
- Follow work handling and storage instructions to prevent damage to components.
- Support Root Cause Analysis activities when non-conformance occurs to prevent reoccurrence.
- Carry out and record all TPM activities in accordance with the specified schedule for the equipment being operated.
- Ensure that work areas are organized, cleaned and maintained in accordance with 5S requirements.
- Engage and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities to maximize efficiency.
- Comply with all company procedures and policies.
From time to time, you may be required to perform other duties as requested by your Line Manager, and whilst not listed above, these duties will be appropriate to the level of responsibility held and to the scope of the role as defined.
