About This Position

The purpose of this position is to provide courteous and professional customer service. This is accomplished by ensuring the efficient handling of billing, cash receipts, clerical support and customer relations while complying with the policies, procedures, goals and objectives of the City, department and division. Other duties include assisting other departments with obtaining needed information and processing accounts receivable.
  1. Answering questions and correspondence regarding utility billing and other city services and assisting the public in completing required forms
  2. Answering and routing telephone calls and sorting incoming mail
  3. Receiving, processing and creating deposit slips for utility payments, including bad debt payments (in person, electronic and bank drafts)
  4. Handling insufficient funds returns
  5. Handling cash, including balancing cash boxes and cash reports
  6. Creating and maintaining the daily report (payment count, work orders and deposits) and the account balance ledger spreadsheet
  7. Processing requests for all changes to utilities (connects, transfers, disconnects, additional garbage totes, nonpayments, etc.)
  8. Receiving and processing information from public works concerning new subdivision maps, assigning account numbers for the new addresses and associating the new water taps
  9. Processing customer utility payments submitted in person, mail, dropbox, online, or other electronic payment format
  10. Preparation of work order for meter reads, connections, and disconnections
  11. Calculating and processing appropriate adjustments to utility bills, including any penalties
  12. Processing meter reads report and identifying required actions
  13. Billing for additional services (extra garbage totes, RV park billing, etc.)
  14. Preparing various utility reports for various departments and auditors
  15. Calculating or verifying rate changes as needed
  16. Process various billing report
  17. Calculation of winter averaging
  18. Assist with departmental communication, verbal and written
  19. Ability to assist with Municipal Court by provided coverage and assisting defendants, as needed
  20. Provide clerical support to accounting and finance staff

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
