Construction Accounting Assistant at SKYLINE ELEVATOR INC – Clermont, Florida

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accounting Assistant to support our accounting department with day-to-day financial tasks specific to the construction industry. This role requires hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop and an understanding of job cost accounting, vendor management, and construction workflows.

The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple jobs and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction

Strong experience with QuickBooks Desktop (required)

Understanding of construction job costing and cost codes

Experience with A/P, A/R, and general ledger entries

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with AIA billing

Experience working with subcontractors and compliance documentation

Knowledge of retainage and percentage-of-completion accounting

Responsibilities:

Assist with job cost accounting in QuickBooks Desktop

Enter and code vendor bills, subcontractor invoices, and credit cards accurately

Track and reconcile job costs (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors)

Assist with AIA billings, progress billings, and retainage tracking

Process accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable

Maintain vendor files, including W-9s, insurance certificates, and lien waivers

Reconcile credit card accounts

Assist with month-end closing and reporting

Maintain organized digital and physical accounting records

Communicate with project managers regarding cost coding and job issues
