About This Position
Overview: Circle Seafoods is looking for a reliable, meticulous, and proactive Safety & Compliance Coordinator to join our construction team in Aberdeen, WA, with summer travel to our Alaska Processing facility. This pivotal role requires efficient, accurate, and systematic management of safety and compliance to ensure a well-organized, safe, and productive work environment. The successful candidate will directly contribute to the seamless execution and timely completion of construction initiatives. Strong understanding of Safety & Compliance, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Responsibilities: The Safety & Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Developing and Implementing Safety Programs: Design, implement, and maintain effective safety programs and policies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, FDA). This includes creating safety manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency response plans.
- Conducting Risk Assessments and Inspections: Regularly conduct thorough risk assessments of all operational areas, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards. Perform routine safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Investigating Incidents and Accidents: Lead investigations into all workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Maintain detailed records of all incidents and investigations.
- Providing Safety Training: Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive safety training programs for all employees, covering topics such as hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout, emergency procedures, and safe equipment operation. Ensure all training is properly documented.
- Ensuring Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with all relevant safety and environmental regulations specific to the seafood industry. Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and documentation are current and readily available.
- Managing Environmental Compliance: Oversee environmental compliance initiatives, including waste management, water quality, and air emissions. Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices within the organization.
- Maintaining Safety Records and Documentation: Accurately maintain all safety-related records, including training logs, inspection reports, incident reports, safety data sheets (SDS), and compliance documentation. Generate regular reports on safety performance and compliance status for management.
- Promoting a Safety Culture: Actively champion a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives, solicit feedback on safety concerns, and foster a proactive approach to safety among all team members.
- Liaising with Departments: Collaborate effectively with various departments, including production, quality assurance, human resources, and maintenance, to integrate safety practices into all aspects of operations.
- Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop, implement, and regularly review emergency preparedness and response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and crisis communication strategies. Conduct drills and training to ensure employee readiness.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- 1-2 years in a safety and compliance related position
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Potential for seasonal travel to Alaska during summer months.
- Successful completion of background checks is required for all Circle Seafoods applicants.
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour card is preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the US
Physical Demands:
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Occasional lifting of 50lb
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours daily).
- Ability to sit for extended periods
