POSITION: Production Technical Lead

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

Position Summary

Leads overall continuous improvement of production procedures across multiple shifts. Develop tactical gap-to-goal plans as well as mid-range strategic plans. Drive overall production performance through the implementation of continuous improvement processes and development of a zero-loss culture. Drives overall line performance of production. Coaches and trains employees in technical roles using verified Best Practices and structured training methods. Should have a good knowledge of production standard operating procedure (SSOP) and GMPs. Leads team members identify, manage, and execute the plants process improvement opportunities. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team-oriented workforce to improve business results.

Essential Functions

  • The Production Technical Lead reports to the Production Supervisor and will be responsible for ensuring the production procedures, directing team members and/or reassigning work assignments are completed as needed.
  • Understand and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the production process to ensure quality and production standards.
  • Communicate any problems or changes in the production process to appropriate personnel.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Complete all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Help identifies potential safety hazards in the plant.
  • Must have knowledge in chemical usage.
  • Must have knowledge of Flagstone Foods’ standards on lock out tag out (LOTO).
  • Will be responsible for training new hires in technical roles in this department.
  • Must work with the supervisor to realign resources required to maintain continuity of normal process.
  • Must be able to monitor productivity vs. standard.
  • Set up machinery ensuring all production materials are available.
  • Operate and monitor areas and replenish materials as needed.
  • Visually inspect areas run and document results.
  • Verify and check paperwork that must be completed.
  • Train production floor employees when pertinent using the CSD Structured OJT Method.
  • Assess employee skill and knowledge against the CSD Certification Checklist requirements.
  • Complete CSD and training documentation timely, completely, and accurately.
  • Follow best practices and procedures for operational, safety and quality requirements.
  • Present a positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning and employee development.
  • Be a role model in support of changes in the work environment.
  • Communicate respectfully, through coaching, listening and feedback techniques.
  • Assisting in the development of training materials and standard work by gathering steps and best practices, pictures/video, etc.
  • Provide feedback and input to the Training Dept and employees as required.
  • Maintain proficiency and up-to-date certification where applicable.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education/Experience)

  • High School or technical school education, or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 3 years of related leadership and/or technical experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication skills, bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write legibly in English.
  • Must be able to have a flexible schedule and be willing to work OT / holidays/ weekends.
  • Intermediate math skills required.

FLSA Designation: This position is Hourly Non-Exempt and is eligible for overtime.
