About This Position

Description:

I. BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for providing comprehensive podiatric medical care to patients of Family Care Health Centers (FCHC), including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot and ankle conditions. The Podiatrist works collaboratively with medical providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to support high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with FCHC’s mission and clinical standards.

Work Schedule: This position requires a flexible part-time schedule of either one full 8-hour shift per week or two 4-hour shifts per week, based on departmental needs and scheduling availability.

II. INTERDEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Department Officer: Chief Medical Officer

Reports to: Chief Medical Officer

Supervises: None

III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. CLINCIAL CARE
  2. Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats acute and chronic conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structures.?
  3. Provides routine podiatric care, including nail care, callus care, wound management, and minor procedures, as appropriate.
  4. Manages diabetic foot care and high-risk patients to prevent complications.?
  5. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging related to podiatric care.?
  6. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans.?
  7. Prescribes medications, orthotics, and physical therapy as clinically indicated.
  8. Performs surgical procedures and assists with pre-operative and post-operative care, as applicable.?
  9. CARE COORDINATION & DOCUMENTATION
  10. Documents patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).?
  11. Collaborates with primary care providers and specialty teams to ensure continuity of care.
  12. Educates patients on preventive foot care, treatment options, and disease management.
  13. QUALITY & COMPLIANCE
  14. Adheres to clinical, quality, and regulatory standards including HRSA, CMS, and organizational policies.
  15. Participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned.?
  16. Maintains current licensure, certifications, and professional competencies.?

IV. PERIODIC DUTIES:

  1. Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and clinical huddles as assigned.
  2. Assists with organizational initiatives related to patient care and quality improvement.
  3. Performs other duties as assigned.

V. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from an accredited program.
  2. Active and unrestricted state podiatry license (or ability to obtain).
  3. DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
  4. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience preferred.
  5. Experience working with underserved or community health populations preferred.
  6. Knowledge of diabetic foot care and chronic disease management.
  7. Strong clinical judgment, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  8. Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
