Job Description

Account Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Account Manager based in Canada.

As an Account Manager, you will own the commercial relationship with a portfolio of high-value business customers, acting as their trusted and dedicated point of contact.
You will build relationships with founders, executives, and finance leaders while helping customers maximize the value of financial products and services.
The role goes beyond traditional account management, combining relationship ownership, consultative selling, retention, and account expansion.
You will lead customer onboarding, quarterly business reviews, capital conversations, and growth opportunities from discovery through execution.
You will proactively identify customer needs, anticipate churn risks, and connect business objectives with relevant financing and product solutions.
Working in a remote, high-trust, fast-moving environment, you will have significant autonomy while collaborating closely with sales, customer success, underwriting, and product teams.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a strategic book of business and make a measurable impact within a growing fintech organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the commercial relationship for a portfolio of high-value customers, including premium-tier customers and businesses generating $2M+ in revenue.
  • Personally onboard new customers during their first week, establishing a strong relationship and understanding their business needs from the outset.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial matters and maintain a high standard of responsiveness across the portfolio.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews covering credit, capital, transaction volume, account health, product feedback, and opportunities for growth.
  • Manage capital and financing conversations end to end, from discovery and qualification through underwriting handoff.
  • Explore customers’ cash flow dynamics, growth plans, seasonal patterns, and financing needs to identify relevant capital opportunities.
  • Provide customers with clear explanations of financing options, calculations, and recommendations based on their business objectives.
  • Introduce external lending partners when an alternative financing solution is more appropriate.
  • Drive account expansion by identifying opportunities for increased transaction volume, plan upgrades, credit-limit adjustments, and greater product adoption.
  • Monitor account health indicators such as declining spend, disengagement, and customer service escalations, taking proactive action to reduce churn.
  • Create and monitor customer service tickets and remain informed of their progress to ensure high-value accounts receive appropriate support.
  • Represent customer feedback and commercial insights in internal product, roadmap, and go-to-market discussions.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, including customer interactions, capital pipeline activity, account health data, meeting summaries, and next steps.
  • Identify commercial trends and communicate relevant account signals to team leadership and go-to-market stakeholders.
  • Support other Account Managers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in B2B account management or customer success, preferably within fintech, payments, SaaS, financial services, or a related environment.
  • Proven ability to grow and retain a high-value customer portfolio, ideally demonstrated through an NRR above 110% or comparable results in expansion and churn reduction.
  • Strong consultative selling and relationship-management skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and translate them into relevant commercial solutions.
  • Experience managing relationships with founders, executives, finance leaders, or other senior stakeholders.
  • Confidence leading quarterly business reviews and strategic customer conversations.
  • Strong understanding of business financials and the ability to connect a customer’s business model, cash flow, and growth plans to financing opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ownership and autonomy, with the ability to manage a portfolio, client communications, follow-ups, and deliverables with limited supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, particularly in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to support colleagues while taking responsibility for individual results.
  • Comfortable working in a small-company environment where employees may take on multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong digital and CRM skills; experience with HubSpot, Quo, or similar customer-management platforms is an asset.

Bonus qualifications:

  • Experience with corporate cards, expense management, foreign exchange, or business banking.
  • Previous experience managing named, dedicated relationships for premium customer segments.
  • Experience working in a high-growth fintech or startup where processes and playbooks were still evolving.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring junior Account Managers.
  • Experience leading customer onboarding and strategic client meetings from the beginning of the relationship.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Paid time off (PTO).
  • Health insurance.
  • Home-office budget to support a productive remote workspace.
  • Learning and development bonus to support professional growth.
  • Fully remote work environment in Canada.
  • High-trust culture with significant autonomy and ownership.
  • Direct exposure to founders, executives, and senior business stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to manage an established high-value portfolio while shaping its future growth.
  • Collaborative and inclusive team environment that values diversity and work-life balance.
  • Exposure to a broad range of commercial, financial, and customer challenges within a rapidly evolving fintech environment.
  • Opportunities for long-term career growth and expanded responsibility as the organization scales.
