CARDIAC MONITOR TECH - NEURO

Position Summary

The Cardiac Monitor Tech is responsible for the ongoing, continuous surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes with monitoring leads off/issues and batteries low.

Department Summary

This role serves as a critical member of the cardiovascular care team by promptly identifying and communicating cardiac equipment leads off or if the batteries are low to nursing and medical staff to support timely patient care and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Complete required organizational and unit competencies as assigned.
  • EMT/Paramedic, or cardiac monitoring technician experience preferred. Recent position within the healthcare field preferred.
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiac monitoring.

  • Recognizes status for battery and leads and notifies appropriate staff as indicated.
  • Maintain and keep accurate logs of interactions and phone calls

  • Communicate in a timely and efficient manner
  • Demonstrates accountability and commitment to coworkers. Is a dependable member of the team. Shares monitoring activities fairly and coordinates breaks. Addresses issues in a timely manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Department Responsibilities & Expectations

Working Conditions

  • Scheduling is subject to change based on the needs of the department.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotations.

Hazardous Exposure Category

Category III - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood; body fluids or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone anywhere might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.) Persons who perform these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
