UPCI Basic Research Administration - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26005842)
Manages the day-to-day operational execution of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) programming across Hillman Cancer Center's 29-county catchment area. Under the direction of Margaret Rosenzweig, coordinates community events and mobile van outreach, manages administrative duties related to personnel, manages supply procurement and inventory tracking, supports the Community Advisory Board, and builds and sustains a volunteer workforce that extends COE's reach into underserved communities.
UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is one of 57 NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States, supporting basic, translational, population level and clinical research opportunities, in addition to medical, surgical and radiation oncology care for the citizens of Pennsylvania. This position will reside in the Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) team of UPMC Hillman.
Manages all aspects of one or more projects for a research program and oversees all aspects of the project lifecycle. Provides leadership, technical direction, coordination, and expertise across projects. Analyzes progress and/or performance and prepares reports. Ensures compliance with budget, scope, timeline, and regulations. Assists with external communications.
Essential Functions
Event Coordination – plans, schedules, and executes COE community events, screenings, and outreach activities; manages event logistics end-to-end; serves as primary liaison with community and faith-based partners.
Mobile Van Outreach Coordination – coordinates scheduling, routing, and staffing of the mobile outreach/screening van across priority counties; ensures screening, referral, and follow-up workflows; oversees van readiness.
Supply Ordering and Inventory Tracking – orders and replenishes event/screening supplies; maintains inventory and budget reconciliation; manages vendor relationships and purchase orders.
Community Advisory Board Management – coordinates CAB scheduling, materials, minutes, and member payments; supports recruitment, onboarding, and retention of CAB members.
Volunteer Force Development and Management – recruits, trains, schedules, and mentors volunteers and community ambassadors supporting COE events and outreach.
Physical Effort
Moderate – May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time; may be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
