Plant Support Specialist in PORT DEPOSIT, Maryland at York Building Products

York Building Products is looking for a Plant Support Specialist who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and get the job done.

You’ll be right in the middle of the action — working around crushers, conveyors, screens, stackers, and heavy equipment to keep our plant running safely and efficiently.

If you’re mechanically minded, good at spotting problems, and the type of person who would rather fix it than walk past it, this could be the job for you!

• Start the day with the crew at the pre-shift meeting and get after it!
• Inspect equipment before and after operation — checking safety components, fluids, tires, and more.
• Complete workplace exams and equipment checklists and catch issues before they turn into bigger problems.
• Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot crushers, conveyors, screens, stackers, and other plant equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs to keep equipment running.
• Keep the plant clean, organized, and safe.
• Keep spare parts organized and ready to go — belts, motors, screens, hardware, and more.
• Document completed work and identify repairs that need attention.
• Communicate with the crew to keep production moving safely and efficiently.
• Pitch in with other quarry operations when needed — cleanup, road repair, equipment work, blasting support, excavation, and more.
• Attend maintenance planning meetings and help keep upcoming work on track.
• Follow all YBP safety procedures, PPE requirements, and MSHA regulations.

You’re someone who:

• Has experience working around heavy equipment or machinery.
• Has a good mechanical mind and enjoys troubleshooting.
• Can look at a piece of equipment and know when something just isn’t right.
• Takes safety seriously.
• Can work independently and stay productive.
• Knows the basics of operating and maintaining light or heavy equipment.
• Has mining, quarry, construction, or aggregate experience? Even better!

You’ll work in an active surface mining and aggregate production environment. That means big machines, moving equipment, dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather.

You’ll be on your feet, climbing on and off equipment, bending, stooping, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working both indoors and outdoors.
