ID3 Group is seeking an experienced Cabinetry Painter/Finisher to join our custom fabrication team. This position is responsible for preparing, painting, staining, and finishing custom cabinetry, millwork, displays, scenic elements, and specialty fabricated components.
The ideal candidate has professional spray-finishing experience, a strong eye for color and detail, and the ability to consistently produce smooth, high-quality finishes in a fast-paced custom production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare cabinetry, millwork, wood, MDF, and other fabricated surfaces for finishing.
- Sand, fill, patch, caulk, prime, and seal surfaces to achieve a professional finish.
- Apply paint, stain, lacquer, clear coat, and other specialty finishes.
- Operate spray guns and related finishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Mix paints, stains, and finishing materials according to manufacturer specifications.
- Match colors, sheens, and finishes based on samples and project requirements.
- Inspect finished products for runs, drips, uneven coverage, surface defects, or color inconsistencies.
- Complete touch-ups and corrective work as needed.
- Read and follow shop drawings, finish schedules, work orders, and production specifications.
- Protect surrounding surfaces and properly mask components before finishing.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Properly label, handle, store, and dispose of paints, solvents, and other finishing materials.
- Coordinate with carpenters, fabricators, project managers, and production leadership to meet project deadlines.
- Follow all company safety procedures and requirements for ventilation, respirator use, and personal protective equipment.
- At least three years of professional painting, cabinetry finishing, millwork finishing, automotive painting, scenic painting, or related experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with spray-applied finishes is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, primers, paints, stains, lacquers, sealers, and clear coats.
- Ability to achieve smooth, consistent finishes on custom-built products.
- Experience mixing and matching colors and finishes.
- Ability to read work orders, finish schedules, and basic shop drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime when project schedules require it.
- Experience with custom exhibits, displays, museums, events, theatrical scenery, cabinetry, or architectural millwork is a plus.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, squat, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently.
- Team lifting or mechanical assistance must be used for heavier or awkward materials.
- Ability to work around paint, dust, fumes, machinery, and construction materials.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Must successfully complete any required respirator medical evaluation, fit testing, and training before performing work that requires respirator use.
