Debris Field Monitor
THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
LOCATION: TOK, ALASKA

Position Summary:
Tidal Basin has an immediate need for Debris Field Monitors to support wildfire debris removal monitoring operations in Tok, Alaska. This position is responsible for onsite monitoring and observation of debris loading and hauling activities following the Mukluk Fire. No prior debris monitoring experience is required, on the job training will be provided. This is episodic work driven by the disaster recovery mission

Essential Job Functions:
The candidate will perform the following essential functions:
  • Report to work on time, check in with supervisor, and attend daily staging muster to receive assignments and updated information
  • Proceed to assigned work zone and monitor all loading activities of trucks and other project vehicles
  • Verify that contractors are loading only eligible fire-related debris from authorized private properties with valid Right-of-Entry authorization
  • Confirm contractors are not entering unauthorized properties or collecting ineligible debris
  • Complete load tickets, logs, and field forms accurately and legibly for every load
  • Record any damage caused by the contractor to private property
  • Act courteously and professionally at all times with residents, contractors, and state officials
  • Wear a safety vest and hard hat at all times while outside of the vehicle
  • Maintain a safe distance from loading operations and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor
  • At end of shift submit all tickets, logs, and field forms and brief supervisor on the day's activities

Experience and Skill Requirements:
The candidate should possess the following:
  • Positive, friendly, and professional attitude
  • Good teamwork and cooperation skills
  • Ability to always follow safety protocols and work instructions at all times
  • Ability to pass a drug screen, motor vehicle, and criminal background check
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Valid Insurance Card proof of auto liability insurance
  • Reliable personal vehicle for use during workday
  • Cell phone with charger
  • Ability to climb ladders, and platforms up to 20 feet
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Ability to work in remote Alaska outdoor conditions including variable weather, smoke, dust, and uneven terrain

Education Requirements:
Prefer the candidate possess the following education and experience requirements:
  • High school degree or GED preferred
  • No prior debris monitoring experience required, on the job training will be provided

Work Schedule:
This position requires the following time and staffing commitment:
  • Able to work as early as 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. seven days a week during response period
  • Approximately 12 to 14 hours per day
  • Able to work up to 70-90 hours per week as needed, including weekends
