This senior QA role focuses on ensuring the reliability and quality of scalable, high-volume software workflows supporting complex legal and remediation programs. You will combine hands-on manual and automated testing across both new development and existing applications. Beyond testing, you will contribute to improving automation practices, QA processes, and overall testing maturity. The role also provides an opportunity to mentor other QA professionals and contribute technical leadership within an Agile environment.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will own critical testing activities across the software development lifecycle, ensuring applications meet functional, technical, and quality expectations. You will balance manual and automated approaches while serving as a senior technical resource for the broader QA team.

  • Develop, document, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases from component-level testing through User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Perform manual smoke, sanity, regression, and UAT testing.
  • Build, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Selenium or Playwright.
  • Test both new and existing application functionality to ensure reliability, quality, and expected performance.
  • Perform back-end and database testing, including creating test data and writing and executing SQL queries.
  • Review business and technical requirements to identify gaps, inconsistencies, risks, and testing needs.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, business analysts, business stakeholders, and other QA professionals throughout development.
  • Identify, document, report, troubleshoot, and verify software defects and fixes.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and provide testing support throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop and report QA metrics, including test coverage and test confidence.
  • Help improve test automation practices while determining where manual testing provides the most effective coverage.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to other QA professionals on automation techniques and QA best practices.
  • Work directly with the Engineering Manager to provide leadership and direction across QA activities.
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced QA professional with a strong foundation in both manual and automated testing, combined with hands-on expertise in database testing and Agile software development. You should be comfortable troubleshooting complex technical issues, working independently, and providing guidance to other QA team members.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software Quality Assurance and testing.
  • Strong experience with both manual and automated software testing.
  • Experience with white-box and black-box testing strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience with smoke, sanity, regression, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts using Selenium or Playwright.
  • 3+ years of database testing experience, including the ability to read, write, and execute SQL queries.
  • 3+ years of experience working within an Agile software development lifecycle.
  • 3+ years of experience testing multi-tier client/server applications.
  • Understanding of software development frameworks, application architecture, and software engineering terminology.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and/or Microsoft Visual Studio Team System.
  • Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex software issues.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to coach other QA professionals in automation testing techniques and best practices.

Benefits:

  • Remote position within approved U.S. hiring locations.
  • Estimated 12-month contract assignment, with the possibility of extension or earlier conclusion depending on business needs.
  • Hourly pay rate of $42–$52 USD, depending on experience.
