Description
The Research Technician (Biochemistry) will perform biochemical and biophysical experiments examining protein–lipid interactions and membrane-associated proteins. The Research Technician (Biochemistry) will collect, analyze, interpret, and organize experimental data; perform liposome-based experiments; and prepare figures and research reports.
*Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding or new Grant/Contract.
Essential Duties- Perform liposome vesicle studies and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) experiments to characterize protein–lipid interactions.
- Prepare experimental samples, execute and optimize biochemical and biophysical assays, and quantitative analysis of resulting data.
- Analyze data
- Maintain accurate experimental records, and prepare figures, summaries, and reports describing experimental results.
- Previous laboratory research experience in protein biochemistry and lipid–protein interaction assays is required.
- Demonstrated experience performing liposome-based assays and surface plasmon resonance experiments is required.
- Experience with scientific data analysis, and preparation of research figures and reports is highly desirable.
EDUCATION:
- A minimum Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
