Job Description
Urology Experts is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our urology team. The CMA will work closely with physicians and other clinical staff to provide quality patient care in a fast-paced specialty practice.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and communication skills, be comfortable working directly with patients, and be able to effectively manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical history, medication lists, and other clinical information.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and office-based procedures.
- Provide clinical support during urology procedures as directed by the physician.
- Collect and prepare specimens according to established protocols.
- Perform injections, medication administration, and other clinical duties within scope of practice.
- Assist with catheter-related care and other urology-specific clinical procedures as trained and directed.
- Prepare and maintain examination and procedure rooms.
- Clean, disinfect, and stock clinical equipment and supplies.
- Assist with patient education regarding medications, procedures, follow-up care, and physician instructions.
- Communicate physician instructions and follow-up information to patients.
- Assist with coordinating testing, imaging, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
- Monitor and respond appropriately to patient questions and concerns, escalating clinical concerns to the appropriate provider.
- Document patient information and clinical activities accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Assist physicians and clinical staff with obtaining medical records, test results, and other necessary patient information.
- Follow up on outstanding clinical information and patient needs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
- Provide professional and compassionate patient care at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinical healthcare setting.
- Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working directly with patients and physicians.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Previous urology experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a specialty medical practice.
- Experience assisting with minor procedures.
- Familiarity with catheter care, bladder scans, urine specimen collection, and other urology-related clinical tasks.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, compassionate, organized, and comfortable in a clinical setting. This position requires someone who can keep up with a busy urology practice, work well with physicians and patients, and take ownership of their responsibilities.
Urology experience is a plus, but we are open to strong CMAs from other specialties who have solid clinical experience and are willing to learn urology.
