SUMMARY:
This Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine vehicle and property maintenance to keep equipment, vehicles, and grounds safe, clean, and in good working condition. Duties include performing tire rotations, oil changes, basic vehicle inspections and maintenance, as well as mowing, trimming, edging, and general lawn and grounds care. Requires a dependable, safety-conscious individual with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and maintain a variety of equipment and outdoor areas.
Success in this role requires a self-driven individual with strong time-management skills who can work independently, stay organized, and take initiative. The ideal candidate is proactive in identifying needs and completing tasks with minimal direction.
The role also supports the overall mission of The Arc Gateway by carrying out additional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including tire rotations, oil changes, fluid checks, and basic inspections.
- Inspect tires, brakes, lights, fluids, and other vehicle components to identify maintenance needs.
- Maintain fleet vehicles and equipment in safe, reliable operating condition.
- Operate and maintain lawn care equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other outdoor tools.
- Perform routine lawn and grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, weed control, and general cleanup.
- Maintain landscaped areas, walkways, parking areas, and surrounding grounds in a clean and presentable condition.
- Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on vehicles, equipment, tools, and facility components as needed.
- Keep maintenance areas, tools, equipment, and workspaces clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow established safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment and tools.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, equipment service, repairs, and supplies.
- Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, fluids, parts, and lawn care materials and report items needing replenishment.
- Identify mechanical, equipment, or grounds-related issues and report concerns to the appropriate manager.
- Assist with general facility and maintenance duties as assigned.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Must be able to pass Level 2 fingerprint background check, (https://info.flclearinghouse.com), Dept. of Children and Families abuse registry check, and local law enforcement check, Affidavit of Good Moral Character.
- Must pass a drug screen
- Must be 21 years of age, have valid driver's license, a good driving record and proof of vehicle insurance and registration with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.
- Maintain punctual attendance and report to work on time for all scheduled shifts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in general maintenance, vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping, landscaping, or a related field required.
- 1 year of hands-on experience performing tire rotations, oil changes, fluid checks, and routine vehicle maintenance.
- Experience operating and maintaining lawn care equipment such as mowers, trimmers, edger’s, and blowers.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working with equipment.
- Effective organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and external vendors.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of The Arc Gateway and sensitivity to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and/or prior experience working with the I/DD community preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and correctly interpret the maintenance requests, and respond to common inquiries or complaints from persons served. Ability to effectively present information to top management during the Facilities Manager’s absence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: The successful completion of Zero Tolerance, and HIPAA certifications will be required, in which The Arc Gateway provides.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands outlined below are required to perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
This role primarily requires sitting, using hands, and communicating. Employees may also be required to reach, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The position frequently requires lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds. Adequate close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision are necessary to perform job duties.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will perform frequent physical activity including walking, standing, lifting, climbing, and exposure to varying weather conditions. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for emergency maintenance needs.
Working Hours: A minimum of 24 hours per week, generally consistent with the Monday through Friday. Occasional nights, weekends and holidays when emergencies arise.
Salary: $18.00 Non-Exempt/Hourly
