Job Description
Welder II
Compensation:Competitive hourly wage based on experience
Schedule:Monday–Thursday: 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Mandatory overtime on Fridays as business needs require.
The Welder II is responsible for independently performing advanced fabrication, fit-up, and welding operations to produce high-quality products that meet engineering specifications. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while supporting the training and development of less experienced welders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare materials and fabricate components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Independently fit up and weld pitless units and other complex assemblies.
- Perform fabrication tasks including cutting, threading pipe, thermal cutting, MIG/TIG welding, grinding, assembly, painting, and packaging.
- Perform accurate saddle cuts and advanced pipe fitting.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
- Maintain high quality and productivity standards while working independently.
- Assist in training and mentoring Welder I employees.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Sales to meet customer specifications.
- Maintain inventory of welding consumables and materials.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area using 5S principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 4+ years of welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication.
- Experience fitting and welding complex assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Valid AWS D1.1 or ASME Section IX GMAW certification, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and mentor entry-level welders.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
***Looking for something beyond a Welder II role? Experienced welders with advanced fabrication skills, leadership experience, and the ability to perform complex welding with minimal supervision may be considered for a Welder III position with compensation at the upper end of the pay range.
