Data Operations Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Operations Lead based in India.

Join a global finance operations team where you will lead critical data management activities that support operational excellence, governance, and business continuity. In this role, you will oversee vendor and customer master data operations, ensuring high levels of accuracy, compliance, and service delivery while driving continuous process improvement. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple regions, you will provide operational leadership, support audits, coordinate projects, and champion data quality initiatives. Accountabilities:
  • Lead daily data operations activities, ensuring timely completion of business-as-usual requests in line with established service level agreements and business priorities.
  • Oversee vendor and customer master data setup and maintenance while ensuring full compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and operational controls.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews, validate supporting documentation, and approve operational requests while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for master data operations, providing guidance on complex cases, issue resolution, and best practices.
  • Coordinate audit activities by preparing supporting evidence, facilitating walkthroughs, responding to audit requirements, and ensuring timely closure of findings.
  • Manage operational trackers, workload allocation, mailbox activities, project progress, and governance reporting to maintain operational visibility and efficiency.
  • Support root cause analysis, error resolution, risk mitigation, and implementation of corrective actions to improve process quality and reduce recurring issues.
  • Lead or support cross-functional projects, including user acceptance testing, stakeholder coordination, process documentation, and change management initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying automation opportunities, reducing turnaround times, improving operational processes, and enhancing knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Serve as a key operational escalation point and provide leadership support in the absence of the Team Leader when required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • 7–15 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in finance operations, procurement, audit, controls, vendor master data, or a related function.
  • Strong knowledge of vendor and customer master data management processes and governance.
  • Experience working with SAP, MDG, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting audits, operational controls, compliance activities, and process governance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage complex operational issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven stakeholder management capabilities across global and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in international and multicultural environments with the flexibility to support multiple global time zones when required.
  • Leadership experience, including workload coordination, mentoring, or dotted-line management responsibilities, is highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and proactive with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong commitment to operational excellence.
