POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor the Public Space Maintenance Technician II will perform tasks that support a clean, orderly, and well-maintained Downtown Atlanta. ADID endeavors to care for and maintain the “curb appeal” of the public spaces – streets, sidewalks, parks, and plazas – within the belief that a tidy and clean environment contributes towards a safe environment and the overall quality of life of the community. This role will directly perform maintenance tasks and repairs to maintain physical equipment, structures, and systems within the public realm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ADID is seeking qualified and motivated candidates to perform the following duties and responsibilities as a Maintenance Technician:

  • Assess and determine necessary maintenance and repairs identified in response to third-party reports, ADID team reports and direct observation.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance on-location within public space using hand tools, power tools, replacement parts and common procedures to complete identified work tasks.
  • Provide timely response store ported concerns including maintaining daily activity logs, and other reports as directed, including entering information into digital web-based databases.
  • Anticipated tasks and projects include:
    • Change tires, hoses on vacuum machines or UTV equipment.
    • Installing and repairing street furniture like bike racks and trashcans
    • Streetlight, trashcan painting and other projects.
    • Moving large sidewalk planters, or other equipment.
    • Perform repairs or removal of materials in the right-of-way.
  • Weed eating.
  • Graffiti removal.
  • Maintain the daily pressure washing schedule.
  • Installing large flower baskets on light poles.
  • Setting up and tear down of events. (: tables and chairs)
  • Small repairs to sidewalk pavers
  • Project a professional authoritative presence in support of the ADID team’s goals to assure the public that their safety within the district is of paramount importance.
  • Comply with all OSHA regulations and health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and testing for use of illegal controlled substances.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Proficient in many different skills (masonry, preventive, and general maintenance)
  • Advanced knowledge of common hand and power tools including the ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Flexibility - position could require work in the evenings, and weekends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically the ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong time management skills including the ability to multitask, stay organized and meet deadlines.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Professional presentation and attitude.
  • Stable work history and good employment references, including a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKS ENVIRONMENT

This job requires the employee to fulfill certain physical tasks to perform their essential job functions successfully. If needed, ADID will provide reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities. 

The employee will need to: 

  • Work outdoors during periods of extreme temperatures. 
  • Regularly communicate through talking and hearing. 
  • Frequently standing, walking, sitting, and reaching with their hands and arms.   
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 60 pounds. 
  • Have good close and distance vision, along with the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Work in an environment with moderate noise levels. 

POSITION CLASSIFICATION (this is not a remote position) 

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site in-person, non-exempt position.
