This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP Master Data Specialist based in India.
As a SAP Master Data Specialist, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate, reliable, and trusted master data across the organization. You will oversee SAP material master data and collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, IT, and other business functions. The role combines hands-on data stewardship with governance, quality management, issue resolution, and process improvement. You will investigate data-quality issues, identify root causes, and help implement sustainable solutions that prevent recurring problems. You will also contribute to system enhancements, integrations, data model changes, and user acceptance testing. This is a fully remote opportunity offering meaningful ownership, cross-functional exposure, and the chance to improve how critical business data is managed throughout its lifecycle.
- Manage and maintain SAP material master data, ensuring it remains accurate, complete, current, accessible, usable, and trusted throughout its lifecycle.
- Define and improve data collection, reporting, quality assurance, and master data management processes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with PLM and other source-data teams to ensure appropriate source information is available for creating and maintaining SAP-specific master data.
- Proactively identify data-quality issues, investigate root causes, coordinate resolution, and recommend systemic improvements to prevent recurring issues.
- Lead and continuously improve master data governance policies, procedures, standards, and scalable workflows.
- Ensure master data activities comply with established governance policies, procedures, quality standards, and controls.
- Act as a data advocate by promoting master data best practices and increasing awareness among data owners and business stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver training, guidance, and communications to help stakeholders understand and follow effective data-management practices.
- Translate business and data requirements into requirements for system enhancements, new integrations, and data model changes.
- Support initiatives from initial scoping through UAT, ensuring master data requirements are clearly defined, tested, and validated.
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve master data processes and collaborate with IT and Operations to pilot and implement solutions.
- Work autonomously across multiple functions to coordinate activities, meet deadlines, and ensure data-related initiatives are completed successfully.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that increase data quality, operational efficiency, and the effectiveness of master data processes.
- 2–4 years of professional experience working with SAP Material Master Data, with demonstrated ability to identify process gaps and drive practical improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience with Centric and/or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems is a plus.
- Experience in the beauty industry, retail, and/or product lifecycle management is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting system implementations, enhancements, or data-related transformation projects is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex data issues and identify root causes.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong follow-up skills, particularly when managing data quality issues and cross-functional activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks from initiation through completion.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Supply Chain, IT, and other functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment and collaborating with distributed teams.
- Willingness to work the required schedule of 4:30 PM to 1:30 AM IST, Monday through Friday.
- 100% remote work, with the flexibility to work from anywhere in India.
- Full-time contract engagement at 40 hours per week.
- Standard schedule of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
- 6-month initial contract, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent, contract-to-hire position.
