Position Overview

The Senior Accountant - Everwild is responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial reporting and maintaining strong accounting controls for Everwild Hotel & Spa. Reporting to the Everwild Controller, this role oversees core accounting activities, supports budgeting and forecasting, and works closely with hotel and spa leaders by providing accurate financial information, reporting, and analysis to support operational planning and performance. The successful candidate combines technical accounting expertise with a practical understanding of hospitality operations, service standards, and a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.


Salary: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00

Key Responsibilities


Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

Standard: Ensure accurate and timely accounting, financial reporting, month-end close activities, and effective day-to-day financial operations.


    Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.Present monthly financial results and key financial insights to the Everwild Controller and other key stakeholders, including the General Manager, highlighting significant variances, operational trends, and items requiring attention or follow-up.Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial information is complete, accurate, and submitted within established deadlines.Review financial transactions and account balances to identify discrepancies, unusual activity, and required corrections.Oversee the Accounts Payable Administrator and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, daily revenue reporting, cash handling reconciliations, and credit card settlements.Reconcile commission calculations and supporting reports, verify amounts for accuracy and completeness, and approve commission payouts in accordance with established policies and procedures.Oversee inventory accounting and controls, including inventory reconciliations, valuation, usage analysis, and coordination of periodic physical counts across hotel, food and beverage, and spa operations.Coordinate audit, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements and provide complete, accurate, and well-organized supporting documentation.Partner with operational teams to resolve accounting and reporting issues while maintaining confidentiality and sound professional judgment.

Financial Planning & Analysis

Standard: Provide accurate financial information, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support operational planning and informed business decisions.

    Support the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes in collaboration with hotel, food and beverage, spa, and other operational leaders.Prepare financial analysis and variance reporting to support management’s understanding of budget and actual performance.Provide financial analysis and reports to help leaders understand financial trends, manage costs, and improve departmental performance.Support management with financial information and analysis for operational planning and decision-making.Present financial results and trends to management, identifying significant variances, operational trends, and opportunities for improvement.Identify opportunities to improve financial performance through analysis of revenues, expenses, inventory, labor, and other operational metrics.

Internal Controls, Systems & Compliance

Standard: Maintain effective financial controls, systems, processes, and compliance practices that support accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and regulatory requirements.

    Maintain effective internal controls and recommend process improvements that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.Monitor accounting processes and controls to ensure transactions are properly authorized, recorded, and supported.Ensure accounting practices comply with applicable accounting standards, legislation, company policies, and established approval procedures.Support the implementation, configuration, testing, and rollout of new accounting and operational software and systems as required.Evaluate and improve accounting processes when implementing new systems, ensuring appropriate controls, reporting requirements, and workflows are maintained.Assist with training accounting team members and operational users on new software, systems, and related processes.Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and financial systems.Support audit, tax, and regulatory requirements by maintaining appropriate documentation and financial records.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Standard: Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and oversight to the accounting team while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented finance function.

    Provide day-to-day supervision and direction to the Accounts Payable Administrator, including assigning work, establishing priorities, monitoring deadlines, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of responsibilities.Review the Accounts Payable Administrator’s work for accuracy, completeness, appropriate supporting documentation, and compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.Provide training, coaching, and ongoing guidance to the Accounts Payable Administrator on accounting processes, systems, controls, and company procedures.Monitor workload and workflow within the Accounts Payable function and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround times.Address questions, discrepancies, and process issues with the Accounts Payable Administrator and provide appropriate support and direction.Support, guide, and cross-train accounting team members to promote accuracy, consistency, and continuity within the finance function.Provide input to the Everwild Controller regarding performance, development needs, and other matters relating to the Accounts Payable Administrator.Work closely with the Everwild Controller and department leaders to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and service-oriented team environment.Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling financial and employee information.Perform other finance and accounting duties that support the successful operation of Everwild Hotel & Spa.


Requirements


    Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.CPA designation, or active progress toward completion, is preferred.Several years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.Experience in hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, or another multi-department hospitality environment is an asset.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting practices.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and confidence learning, implementing, and using new accounting, property-management, point-of-sale, inventory, payroll, and financial reporting systems as required.Demonstrated ability to support the implementation and adoption of new software and systems, including learning new processes, assisting with configuration and testing, and supporting team training as required.Demonstrated ability to organize competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify practical solutions.Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.Demonstrated ability to provide direction, coaching, and support to accounting team members.
