Driver

DEPARTMENT: Shipping

REPORTING TO: Plant Manager

MAKS Plastics, LLC is a rotational molding and thermoforming plastic component supplier for the RV, Marine and Custom industries. SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials, components, and finished products between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, suppliers, and customers. This role is critical to maintaining smooth logistical operations and ensuring timely delivery of goods.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transportation Operations

  • Operate company vehicles to transport materials, components, and finished products
  • Maintain accurate delivery and pickup schedules
  • Plan optimal routes for material and product transportation
  • Load and unload materials safely and efficiently
  • Ensure proper securing and handling of cargo

Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Report any mechanical issues or vehicle damage immediately
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and basic maintenance
  • Keep accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Ensure vehicles meet all safety and regulatory standards

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and trip reports
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork
  • Track mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times
  • Record and report any incidents or discrepancies
  • Maintain electronic and physical documentation systems

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all company safety protocols
  • Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Maintain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL)
  • Follow traffic laws and company driving policies
  • Complete required safety training and medical examinations

Material Handling

  • Verify accuracy of shipments and deliveries
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials
  • Use appropriate material handling equipment
  • Ensure proper packaging and protection of goods during transport
  • Maintain inventory accuracy during transportation

Customer and Supplier Interaction

  • Represent the company professionally during deliveries
  • Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers
  • Resolve minor delivery-related issues
  • Provide proof of delivery documentation
  • Maintain positive professional relationships

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Clean driving record
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience
  • Ability to pass DOT medical examination and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Forklift certification
  • Experience in manufacturing logistics
  • Knowledge of local and regional transportation routes
  • Safe driving awards or recognition

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Able to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time as well as around loud noises are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to climb in and out of the truck and at times remain stationary with intermediate walking through out shift. Frequently lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds alone and parts more than 50 pounds with assistance and must be able to transport these up to 20 feet. Frequently positions self to maneuver around the part when loading or unloading.
