Job Description
The Thomas Lab within the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics is searching for a Research Instructor to lead a multidisciplinary research effort to define how the disease-causing PACS1R03W mutation disrupts chaperone-mediated protein quality control, determine whether it impairs glymphatic clearance of protein aggregates in patient -derived brain organoids and mouse models. The incumbent will also establish the contributions of protein misfolding and proteostasis failure to disease pathogenesis and severity. The successful candidate will be an expert in neurodegenerative disease research with a particular focus on the mechanisms of protein aggregation and the loss of proteostasis control. Advanced experience in induced pluripotent stem cell and cell-based models of neurodegeneration, optogenetic and chemically inducible protein aggregations systems, RNA splcing-sensor reporters and high throughput and high content phenotypic screening is required.
