National Director

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a National Director in the United States.

This is a unique opportunity to lead and expand a high-impact national program focused on transforming food systems toward healthier, more sustainable outcomes. The role combines strategic leadership, ecosystem development, grantmaking oversight, and partnership building within a mission-driven and globally connected environment. You will work closely with cross-sector stakeholders including philanthropic organizations, advocacy groups, policymakers, researchers, and private sector partners to drive meaningful systemic change. Operating with significant autonomy, you will shape national strategy, identify high-impact funding opportunities, and strengthen collaboration across the broader food systems movement. The position is ideal for a visionary and entrepreneurial leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about sustainability, public health, and social impact. This fully remote role offers the chance to influence long-term change while working alongside an ambitious and collaborative international team.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the development and refinement of the national program strategy, identifying high-impact opportunities across policy, private sector engagement, and narrative change initiatives.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable programs and funding initiatives that strengthen sustainable and balanced food systems.
  • Oversee grantmaking activities, including identifying potential grantees, evaluating funding opportunities, managing approval processes, and supporting funded initiatives throughout execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with civil society organizations, advocacy groups, donors, philanthropic institutions, and ecosystem partners.
  • Foster collaboration and coordination across stakeholders to strengthen alignment and collective impact within the broader food systems ecosystem.
  • Identify ecosystem gaps and develop initiatives or partnerships to address emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Monitor trends and developments related to climate, agriculture, food security, public health, trade, technology, and sustainability to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with fundraising teams to support donor engagement, develop strategic communications, and increase visibility for national initiatives.
  • Represent the program externally through stakeholder meetings, partnerships, presentations, and sector engagement activities.
  • Provide regular reporting, strategic insights, and impact updates in collaboration with monitoring and evaluation teams.
  • Contribute to cross-market collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives with global and regional program leaders.
Requirements:
  • Extensive professional experience in climate, health, sustainability, food systems, philanthropy, advocacy, or related sectors.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing high-impact strategies within complex and evolving environments.
  • Strong understanding of food system transformation, including areas such as environmental sustainability, agriculture, public health, food security, and social development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing grantmaking processes, partnerships, or large-scale stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills with the ability to engage effectively across nonprofit, philanthropic, governmental, and private sector environments.
  • Experience working with donors or philanthropic institutions, including fundraising or partnership development activities.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, drive innovation, and navigate ambiguity effectively.
  • Strong project and budget management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently within a fully remote and globally distributed team environment.
  • Commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, empathy, and mission-driven work.
  • Existing networks within civil society, donor communities, or food systems sectors in the United States are highly desirable.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $150,000 to $200,000.
  • Fully remote work environment with flexibility and autonomy.
  • Opportunity to lead impactful national initiatives focused on sustainability and food systems transformation.
  • Collaborative international team environment with strong mission alignment.
  • Exposure to influential partnerships across philanthropy, advocacy, policy, and private sector organizations.
  • Professional growth opportunities within a fast-evolving and globally connected organization.
  • Meaningful work contributing to climate, health, and social impact initiatives.
  • Inclusive and values-driven workplace culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and long-term impact.
