Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Design is the center of what we do at Palisociety, and it starts with Avi Brosh, our Executive Founder and Chief Creative Officer.

We are looking for a Design Associate to work directly with Avi as his design collaborator and creative right hand. This is not a support seat. You will be in the room when new hotels are first imagined, trading ideas, chasing down references, and carrying each concept from first sketch to final styling on opening day. Most designers wait years to get this close to the creative decisions. Here, that is the job.

The role has two sides. The first is what’s next: a slate of new hotels and concepts. The second is what’s already open: keeping our existing hotels fresh, relevant, and a little surprising. The pace is fast, the learning curve is steep, and your work gets built, photographed, and lived in.

You report to Avi and work hand in hand with Matt Fisher, Principal | Real Estate + Development, and the design team. Avi sets the creative direction, Matt’s team carries it through documentation, procurement, and construction, and you are the bridge, making sure the vision is captured, handed off, and protected all the way to opening day.

WHY THIS ROLE:

  • A direct line to the creative source. You work through ideas with Avi every day and see how creative decisions get made.

  • The full life of a hotel inside one company, from concept through construction, installation, and operations.

  • Range. A brand-new hotel concept one week, a reimagined lobby, restaurant, or guest room at a long-running property the next.

WHO WE ARE:

Palisociety is a society of unique hotels and residences: Palihouse, Palihotel, Le Petit Pali, ARRIVE by Palisociety, and a growing collection of independently branded properties. Since our first hotel opened in Los Angeles in 2009, we’ve grown into a nationwide portfolio of neighborhood-centric hotels, restaurants, and bars, earning recognition from Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, The New York Times, and more.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Creative Partner to the Founder

  • Work directly with Avi to develop design concepts, space plans, and architectural, finish, fixture, and material directions for new hotels, new brand concepts, and renovations.

  • Act as Avi’s sounding board and second set of hands, turning a conversation, reference photo, or quick sketch into sketches, CAD drawings, and digital mock-ups the team can act on.

  • Curate design boards, material palettes, and presentation decks that bring the vision to life for partners and our teams.

  • Bring a point of view. Follow hospitality, design, and culture trends, scout markets, hotels, shops, and makers’ studios with Avi, and keep a running library of ideas for what’s next.

Keeping the Portfolio Fresh

  • Walk our operating hotels with a fresh eye, flag what feels tired or off-brand, and develop refresh concepts for lobbies, guest rooms, F&B outlets, and outdoor spaces.

  • Keep each property’s styling, art, objects, and OS&E current and true to its brand, partnering with hotel and operations teams to turn refreshes into CapEx plans and see them through installation.

Sourcing, Specification + FF&E

  • Visit showrooms, research materials, and gather samples to guide finish and specification selections.

  • Help prepare interior design drawings, finish schedules, and FF&E specification schedules.

  • Support FF&E (and OS&E as needed) procurement, working with vendors on pricing, lead times, and deliveries, documented to our purchasing and filing protocol.

  • Maintain project and specification binders, the materials and finish library, and the vendor database.

Working With Matt + the Design Team

  • Serve as the link between Avi and Matt’s team, translating creative direction into clear briefs, design matrices, and markups.

  • Keep Avi current on project status and open decisions, and bring the team’s questions, constraints, and budget realities back to him so nothing stalls.

  • Reference construction documents and support shop drawing review so the design is built as intended.

  • Help manage design budgets, timelines, and draw processes, and pitch in on documentation, procurement, and installation when a project needs extra hands.

  • Bring fluency with AI tools to the design workflow while upholding the Palisociety brand standard.

On Site

  • Join site visits and installations through final styling and punch list, traveling to project sites as needed.

  • Take on other design-related projects and special assignments as they come up.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Required

  • 1+ years of experience in an interior design, architecture, or hospitality design studio.

  • A discerning eye for materiality and detail, and a portfolio that shows it.

  • Real curiosity about hospitality, design, art, fashion, and culture, and the instinct to bring ideas forward unprompted.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Excel (including formulas), Word, and Outlook.

  • Highly organized, able to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines consistently.

  • A clear, polished communicator who handles tight timelines and shifting priorities with tact, grace, and style.

  • Self-motivated and collaborative, comfortable working one-on-one with a founder who moves fast and follows the best idea in the room, and glad to do whatever the project needs.

  • Able to travel, work on site during active projects, and work weekends and holidays as needed.

Preferred

  • Hospitality design experience (highly preferred).

  • Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

  • Bluebeam proficiency.

  • Procurement experience and familiarity with the shop drawing review process.

Physical

  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs. (samples, materials, and furniture during installations).

  • Able to stand and walk for up to four hours at a time, and to bend, stoop, squat, and reach on job sites and at installations.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:

  • Competitive compensation package with medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus 401(k).

  • Paid time off, holiday pay, and sick pay.

  • Career advancement and professional development as we open new hotels and restaurants nationwide.

  • Employee discounts across our entire portfolio (25 hotels and more to come!).

TO APPLY:

Apply through this posting and include a link to your portfolio. We'd also love a few sentences on a hotel, restaurant, or space whose design you admire, and why.
