Job Description
Superior Skilled Trades (SST) is seeking a dynamic Payroll Coordinator to join our West Coast team! In this role, you will coordinate and process employee payroll for 2,000+ temporary workers across 40+ states. The ideal candidate will ensure ethical, accurate, and timely payroll processing and have multi-state experience; familiarity with prevailing wage/certified payroll reporting with the ability to keep up with garnishment and unemployment notices, and have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in compliance with all state and federal wage and hour requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Five or more (5+) years of closely related experience.
- Experience in a multi-state temporary staffing environment is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (formulas a pivot tables).
- Proficient with company or other payroll software systems (Aviante a plus).
- Ability to work at a fast pace with a high level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Core Responsibilities
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll including new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, and authorized deductions and withholding.
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including all hourly wages, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions, and prevailing wage, where applicable.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors, and conducts daily internal audits of transactions by the team to ensure accuracy.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws, and best practices, including prevailing wage, where applicable.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Actively updates knowledge related to state by state and federal best practices.
- Performs other compliance and accounting duties as assigned.
