Founded in 1960, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive non-profit agencies in Ottawa and a registered charity. It provides mental health services, employment programs, emergency shelter, community, health and housing services, and justice programs to youth in the Ottawa area, serving between 2,500 and 3,000 at‑risk individuals aged 12+ and their families every month. YSB employs 400 caring professionals in a unionized environment in over 26 locations across Ottawa.
The Client Service Specialist provides client service support to the Employment Services team, ensuring the effective delivery of Employment Ontario programs and services. This role supports clients throughout their employment journey, including resource and information services, client re-engagement, employment retention, and follow-up activities. The position also assists with employer and community engagement initiatives, events, and day-to-day case management.
Principal Duties:
- Provide client service and support for Employment Ontario programs and services.
- Deliver resource and information services to clients, responding to inquiries and directing clients to appropriate supports.
- Re-engage clients who have disengaged from services and support ongoing client participation.
- Conduct employment retention and follow-up activities with clients to monitor progress and provide continued support.
- Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and case notes in accordance with Employment Ontario and organizational standards.
- Assist with case management activities, scheduling appointments, and coordinating client communications.
- Support employer engagement activities, including outreach, relationship management, and recruitment initiatives.
- Assist in planning and coordinating employer, community, and client events.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and other documentation as required.
- Collaborate with Employment Services staff to ensure high-quality, client-centered service delivery.
- Perform other program support duties as assigned.
Job Specifications/Qualifications:

- Diploma or degree in Social Services, Human Services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience providing client service support in an employment, social service, or community-based setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with case management systems and maintaining accurate client records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Additional Qualifications:
- Successful applicants will be required to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector check obtained within the past six (6) months, as a condition of employment with YSB.
- To confirm language proficiency required for this position, successful candidates may be requested to undergo an oral and written assessment conducted by a third-party provider, arranged by YSB. Candidates must meet the minimum required linguistic profile before their employment start date. Formal education may be considered as sufficient demonstration of language proficiency, but is subject to review.
