You will be responsible for supporting legal operations across commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters while providing practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Support senior legal leadership with a variety of commercial, corporate, and operational legal matters
- Structure and assist in implementing international commercial and corporate transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate customer, supplier, financing, and other commercial agreements
- Provide legal support on labour, employment, and immigration-related matters when required
- Assess legal and operational risks and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies
- Analyze laws, regulations, and compliance requirements and provide guidance to business teams
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business initiatives and operational decision-making
- Contribute to contract management, legal documentation, and corporate governance activities
- Support legal research and provide practical recommendations on complex legal issues
- Ensure legal activities are handled with professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and business-minded legal professional with strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Law degree from a recognized university
- Membership in good standing with a recognized Bar association
- 1 to 5 years of experience in commercial law, corporate law, or related legal practice areas
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams
- High level of professionalism, ethics, accountability, and sound business judgment
- Experience in labour and employment law or commercial contracts is considered an asset
- Knowledge of maritime law, chartering, or maritime operations is an advantage
- Common law education or experience is considered a plus
- Availability outside standard business hours when required
