Accountabilities

You will be responsible for supporting legal operations across commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters while providing practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders.

Support senior legal leadership with a variety of commercial, corporate, and operational legal matters
Structure and assist in implementing international commercial and corporate transactions
Draft, review, and negotiate customer, supplier, financing, and other commercial agreements
Provide legal support on labour, employment, and immigration-related matters when required
Assess legal and operational risks and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies
Analyze laws, regulations, and compliance requirements and provide guidance to business teams
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business initiatives and operational decision-making
Contribute to contract management, legal documentation, and corporate governance activities
Support legal research and provide practical recommendations on complex legal issues
Ensure legal activities are handled with professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and business-minded legal professional with strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Law degree from a recognized university
Membership in good standing with a recognized Bar association
1 to 5 years of experience in commercial law, corporate law, or related legal practice areas
Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams
High level of professionalism, ethics, accountability, and sound business judgment
Experience in labour and employment law or commercial contracts is considered an asset
Knowledge of maritime law, chartering, or maritime operations is an advantage
Common law education or experience is considered a plus
Availability outside standard business hours when required
