Sr Buyer - GCG Custom Engineered Solutions

This role is centered on supporting and optimizing procurement activities within a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment focused on engineered cable and component solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring material availability, managing supplier relationships, and executing purchasing activities that directly impact operational continuity and customer delivery performance. The position requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities across complex purchasing workflows. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, operations teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure cost-effective sourcing and on-time delivery of materials. This is a hands-on procurement role where you will influence inventory efficiency, supplier performance, and overall supply chain reliability. The environment is collaborative, data-driven, and focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence. It is also a strong opportunity to deepen expertise in industrial procurement and supply chain operations.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage complex purchasing activities across assigned categories, including issuing, tracking, and maintaining multi-line purchase orders
  • Coordinate supplier RFQs by gathering, analyzing, and comparing quotes from approved vendors
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data within ERP systems to support operational and reporting needs
  • Build and manage strong supplier relationships to ensure performance across cost, quality, and delivery KPIs
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms while resolving supplier issues to ensure on-time fulfillment
  • Monitor inventory levels and material availability to support project requirements and prevent stock-outs
  • Collaborate with operations and warehouse teams to manage distribution inventory for cable and component materials
  • Support communication between sales teams and suppliers to ensure visibility on order status and customer commitments
  • Conduct purchasing analysis, supplier evaluations, and administrative procurement tasks with high accuracy
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance procurement efficiency and supply chain performance
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations in manufacturing or industrial distribution
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems and procurement workflows
  • Solid understanding of purchasing principles, inventory management, and supplier coordination processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and external suppliers
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving operational environment
  • Familiarity with Incoterms, freight terms, or global sourcing practices is considered a plus
  • Experience in wire, cable, or industrial manufacturing environments is highly valued
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a remote setting aligned to Eastern or Central time zones
