Fields Manager--Statewide Field Operations throughout Oregon
The Fields Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of all reforestation field operations. This role ensures optimal crew performance, site productivity, and quality of work while managing a team of field supervisors and seasonal planting staff. The Field Manager drives operational excellence, labor efficiency, and compliance with reforestation best practices, safety standards, and company goals.
- Oversee day-to-day reforestation operations across open-field planting sites and nursery preparation areas.
- Plan, schedule, and direct seasonal site preparation, seedling planting, survival monitoring, invasive species control, and replanting activities.
- Monitor crew and site performance and implement strategies for continuous improvement in planting rates, survival rates, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of planting equipment, irrigation systems, and field tools used in reforestation activities.
- Develop and manage field production plans, planting schedules, species rotations, and capacity forecasts aligned with project timelines.
- Analyze production data and KPIs to identify variances, troubleshoot site issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, forestry regulations, environmental requirements, and safety protocols.
- Oversee pest, disease, and invasive species management programs, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices specific to reforestation environments.
- Collaborate with the Branch Manager and leadership team on budgeting, forecasting, input cost management, and workforce planning.
- Coordinate with Logistics, Quality, and Production teams to meet project demand and ensure timely seedling and supply flow.
- Lead seasonal labor planning, ensuring adequate staffing during peak planting periods and optimizing workforce utilization.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to Field Supervisors; hold crews accountable to performance, quality, and safety standards.
- Drive a culture of safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement across all reforestation field sites.
- Evaluate and implement reforestation innovations, equipment upgrades, and best practices to improve planting productivity and reduce waste.
- Contribute to a positive team dynamic through respectful interactions, positive contributions, and active collaboration to achieve department and organizational goals.
- Incorporate Continental Floral Greens' vision, mission, and values in day-to-day activities and behaviors; guide and motivate others to remain committed to CFG's vision, mission, and values.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA) in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, agriculture, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of field operations experience, preferably in reforestation, forestry, land restoration, or specialty agricultural crops.
- 3+ years of leadership experience supervising field or agricultural crews.
- Strong understanding of reforestation techniques, site preparation methods, seedling handling, and field planting practices.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret crew and site performance metrics, and make informed operational decisions.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in reforestation, native plant restoration, or conservation land management.
- Experience in agriculture, natural resources, or a perishable/time-sensitive field environment.
- Familiarity with forestry or land management technology systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
The target hiring range for this position is $75,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience.

In 2009, we purchased our first farm near the iconic Mt. St. Helens in Washington. Fast forward to 2014, when we acquired Continental Wholesale Florist in San Antonio, Texas, and began a fresh chapter as Continental Floral Greens.
