SAP Basis / SAP Platform Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a SAP Basis / SAP Platform Engineer in the United States.

This role is a critical hands-on engineering position responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of complex SAP landscapes supporting mission-critical enterprise operations. You will work across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments to manage, optimize, and evolve SAP platforms that power essential business processes. The position requires deep technical expertise in SAP architecture, database administration, system upgrades, and performance tuning, along with strong collaboration across infrastructure, security, and functional teams. You will play a key role in ensuring system availability, reliability, and compliance across large-scale SAP environments. The environment is highly technical and fast-paced, with strong emphasis on automation, resilience, and operational excellence. Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for the end-to-end administration, optimization, and evolution of enterprise SAP environments across multiple landscapes and infrastructures.

  • Architect, install, configure, and operate SAP systems including SAP S/4HANA, ECC, BW/4HANA, Solution Manager, and NetWeaver-based landscapes across on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Administer and optimize SAP HANA including installation, sizing, replication, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Manage SAP system copies, refreshes, migrations, and post-processing automation for development, testing, and production environments.
  • Lead SAP upgrades, enhancement packs (EHP), support packages, kernel updates, and system conversions with minimal business disruption.
  • Design and implement SAP cloud migrations to platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, including identity and network integration.
  • Configure and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions using SAP HANA system replication and clustering strategies.
  • Manage transport systems, security coordination, monitoring, and incident response across SAP landscapes.
  • Develop automation scripts and operational runbooks using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Python to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Provide 24/7 production support and participate in root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
  • Document SAP architecture, operational procedures, and standards while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to platform evolution.
Requirements:

You bring strong hands-on SAP Basis expertise combined with deep infrastructure knowledge and a proven ability to manage complex enterprise environments.

  • 5+ years of SAP Basis or SAP platform engineering experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing SAP HANA in production environments.
  • Experience with SAP ecosystems including SAP S/4HANA, ECC, BW/4HANA, and Solution Manager.
  • Proven experience in SAP system upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP HA/DR architectures, including replication, clustering, and failover strategies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP for SAP workloads.
  • Familiarity with SAP transport management and tools such as ChaRM or CTS+.
  • Scripting experience in Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and incident management skills in complex system environments.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to work across technical and functional teams.
