Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler/Benefits Coordinator to join our busy OB/GYN practice. This full-time position is ideal for an experienced medical office professional who excels in patient communication, scheduling, and insurance coordination. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive timely, compassionate, and efficient care throughout the surgical process.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule outpatient and hospital surgical procedures for physicians.
  • Coordinate surgery dates with hospitals, surgical centers, physicians, and patients.
  • Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and ensure required documentation is completed.
  • Communicate surgery instructions, pre-operative requirements, and appointment details to patients.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update scheduling information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure all pre-operative testing and clearances are completed.
  • Respond to patient questions regarding scheduling, insurance benefits, and surgical preparation.
  • Work closely with providers and office staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
  • Previous medical scheduling experience is required.
  • Experience scheduling surgeries and coordinating insurance benefits is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced medical office environment.
  • Experience with EMR systems and Microsoft Office is preferred.
