Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Operates imaging equipment and perform diagnostic x-rays on patients as ordered by physician. Ensures that all activities involving the C-Arm or other imaging equipment are performed in accordance with the approved policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Standard IV Demonstrates competence in performance of duties and responsibilities related to tasks, skills and procedures rendered to the clients served.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology with one or more years of related work experience preferred. Current CPR certification preferred. Registered or Registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Knowledge of standard radiology equipment used in the operating room.

Eligibility: All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability:

Interpersonal: Effective communication skills; oral and written. Demonstrates a positive, friendly, and courteous manner. Serves as a role model to other staff members. Demonstrates the ability to work well with other employees.

Critical Thinking: Ability to adhere to the work schedule and manage time appropriately. Assumes responsibility for competency and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education. Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks. Above average organization skills.

Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience in a hospital, operating room, or ambulatory surgery center. Knowledge of standard radiology equipment used in the operating room. Thorough knowledge of radiologic technology, the scientific principles behind the work and also recognizing the human elements involved.

MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Telephone and fax, equipment, machinery and medical supplies. Imaging equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Occasional overtime. Must handle stress in meeting time demands.

  • Ensures that appropriate signage is used when imaging equipment is in use.
  • Maintains the Fluoroscopy Log.
  • Provides radiation safety measures (ie: dosimetry badges, lead aprons, shields) to protect patients and staff from radiation exposure.
