The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Crisis Clinician

As a Crisis Clinician, you will play a vital role in providing timely, compassionate behavioral health support to individuals and families experiencing mental health crises. This position provides clinical assessment, crisis intervention, hospitalization evaluations, and coordination of crisis services for children, adolescents, adults, and their families. You will work in a fast-paced environment where strong clinical judgment, communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. As a Crisis Clinician, you will help individuals and families navigate challenging situations while coordinating appropriate services and promoting safety, stabilization, and continuity of care.

A typical day for a Crisis Clinician may include:

  • Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments of adults, children, adolescents, and their families experiencing behavioral health or psychiatric crises

  • Providing crisis intervention and supportive services to individuals experiencing acute mental health or emotional distress

  • Evaluating individuals to determine the appropriate level of care, including assessing the need for psychiatric hospitalization when clinically indicated

  • Coordinating crisis services and connecting individuals and families with appropriate behavioral health, medical, and community resources

  • Working collaboratively with healthcare providers, behavioral health professionals, families, and community partners to develop appropriate plans for safety and ongoing care

  • Responding to urgent and potentially stressful situations while maintaining professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and a patient-centered approach

  • Supporting individuals and families in identifying immediate needs, available resources, and appropriate next steps during a crisis

  • Completing required clinical documentation, assessments, evaluations, referrals, and crisis service coordination activities

  • Recognizing and reporting identified safety concerns, including hazardous environmental conditions, unsecured areas, and other risks that may affect patients, staff, or visitors

  • Identifying and reporting medical errors and other safety-related concerns in accordance with organizational policies and procedures

  • Maintaining compliance with required certifications, training, and professional standards

  • Participating in required orientation, education, training, and competency programs

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to promote patient safety, quality care, and effective crisis response

  • Performing additional responsibilities based on departmental and organizational needs

  • You are committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting safety, stabilization, and access to appropriate behavioral health services

To be considered for this Crisis Clinician opportunity:
  • You have a Master's degree (MA/MS) in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field

  • Two years of prior experience or training working with children, adolescents, and adults in a mental health setting is strongly preferred

  • Previous experience or training in crisis intervention and clinical assessment is strongly preferred

  • You must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey State Driver's License

  • BLS certification is required within three (3) months of hire

  • You must be able to work effectively in stressful situations and respond appropriately to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises

  • Individuals hired into this position must be eligible to obtain their Temporary Screening Certification Number upon hire

  • A permanent Screening Certification Number must be obtained within one (1) year of hire

  • You demonstrate strong clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • You are committed to maintaining required certifications, completing mandatory training, and meeting departmental competencies

  • This is a Per Diem Night shift.
