About the job:

Embark on a new career journey to shape the future as an Espey Quality Control Machine Shop Inspector, where you will be part of a team crafting transformers & power supplies destined for military and industrial products. The Quality Control Inspector in the Machine Shop plays a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and evaluating materials, components, and finished products to identify defects, deviations from specifications, and other quality issues. Your meticulous attention to detail and adherence to quality standards will contribute to the overall success of our manufacturing process and customer satisfaction. Unlock your QC skills and passion for precision by inspecting products that protect today’s military.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Examines alignment of parts and measures parts for conformance with specified dimensions, using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, vernier calipers and gages.
  • Twists dials, shafts, and gears to verify freedom of movement.
  • Measures plated areas for uniformity and thickness.
  • Verifies location of bolt and rivet holes, using templates, check fixtures and measuring instruments.
  • Required to be trained and company qualified as a weld inspector.
  • Understands straight dimensioning as well as GD & T.
  • Examines parts to locate surface defects, such as burrs, scratches and pinholes.
  • Records inspection data, such as serial number, type and percent of defects and rework required parts.
  • Verifies completion to drawing and drawing level accuracy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of AS 9100, ISO 9001
  • Competent using calipers, height gauges, thread gauges and basic electrical meters.
  • Experience with machining, welding and CMM
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to work full time
  • Must be US citizen with ability to secure a US Government security clearance; Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled data.
  • Required Essential Functions include: the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and lift up to 10 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and expectations.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in manufacturing or production environments supporting military or industrial products
  • Experience programming and operating both portable and stationary Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required by production schedules.

Rate of Pay:

  • Pay Rate $25-30/hour, overtime eligible
