Position Summary
Responsible for establishing and meeting sales goals and managing customer relationships including professionally promoting our capabilities, products and services to existing customers and new prospects. Manage marketing as well as internal and external communications materials.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Continue the development of new territory sales with the focus on Veritas Steel growth.
- Stays current with bridge construction projects let by state Departments of Transportation and other agencies, public and private, across the United States. Identifies possible projects to bid, confer with estimators and general contractors.
- Works closely with engineers, DOT, general contractors (current customers and prospects) to identify specific bridge steel needs and develop workable solutions.
- Coordinates communications between company and general contractors during the bidding process.
- Works closely with marketing/advertising agency to develop presentations that are visually and verbally effective, and professional in appearance. Provides input to same on customer needs/wants in the sales process.
- Takes initiative to develop and “work” a nation-wide list of prospective bridge jobs and general contractors by researching business directories and industry catalogs/publications. Compiles appropriate information to send and schedules prospecting appointments as appropriate.
- Develops and maintains good customer relationships with prompt handling of customer needs, inquiries or other communications. Manages relationship with customers to optimize sales results.
- Assists with strategic marketing planning, participates in meetings as requested.
- Researches and analyzes sales statistics and other market/competitor information to track and predict industry trends.
- Keeps current on industry trends, competition, innovations, and changes that may affect how the Company manufactures, sells, and services its products.
- Reviews drawings for bid/no bid recommendations.
- Works closely with Sales Coordinator for back-up coverage of industry bid opportunities and aid in the bid submission process.
- Maintains account profiles for customers and prospects.
- Assists with updating sales information in Salesforce and runs reports to share the status of awards, bids and market.
- Once a project is awarded, works with assigned Project Manager to transfer job from sales process to production.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Maintains account profiles for customers and prospects in Salesforce CRM. Ability to analyze and pull data from Salesforce to publish Sales updates and forecasts.
- Ability to seek out sales opportunities that tie to corporate goals.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills to relate customer base.
- Organized and able to prioritize workload to meet bid deadlines.
- Strong follow up skills to drive action to completion.
- Ability to work on their own (travel, home, remote office, etc.).
- Strong Bridge/Transportation Industry knowledge preferred. Technical skills in reading and understanding complex estimates and work requirements.
- Willing to travel.
- Sales experience required.
Physical Location
- Position will be based out of one of Verita’s sites in Eau Claire, WI.
Educational and Work Requirements
- College degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in sales and marketing field required.
- Experience using an enterprise-wide CRM to track bid and sales activity is preferred.
- Knowledge of general construction and related technical sales experience is preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, estimates and design documents and turn them into actionable sales bids with limited oversight is highly preferred.
