Job Description

Commissioning / Turnover Coordinator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Commissioning / Turnover Coordinator based in the United States.

This is a project-focused role supporting commissioning readiness, turnover, startup, testing, issue tracking, and closeout activities across complex infrastructure projects.
You will help ensure systems are properly documented, tested, accepted, and ready to transition into operations and maintenance.
The position combines technical coordination, documentation management, readiness tracking, and close collaboration with construction, commissioning, and operations stakeholders.
You will facilitate readiness reviews, monitor prerequisites, maintain punchlists, and identify risks that could affect startup or acceptance.
The role also requires careful review of commissioning records, turnover packages, test results, and operational readiness materials against project and client requirements.
You will work in a collaborative environment supporting critical infrastructure projects where accuracy, organization, and timely communication are essential.
This opportunity is well suited to a technically minded professional who enjoys coordinating complex project activities and helping teams reach successful completion milestones.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and administer commissioning readiness trackers to provide clear visibility into system readiness, outstanding requirements, and upcoming milestones.
  • Support systemization and turnover planning, helping establish logical pathways for systems to progress through commissioning, testing, acceptance, and operational handover.
  • Coordinate commissioning documentation and facilitate readiness reviews with relevant project stakeholders.
  • Track prerequisites required for system startup and proactively identify missing documentation, approvals, activities, or other readiness gaps.
  • Support witnessed testing and acceptance activities, ensuring relevant records and outcomes are properly documented.
  • Maintain issue, deficiency, and punchlist logs and coordinate follow-up on outstanding items.
  • Report commissioning progress, readiness status, risks, deficiencies, and unresolved items to the applicable Project Director of Construction.
  • Review commissioning completion documentation, test records, turnover packages, operational readiness materials, and performance test results for completeness and compliance with applicable client and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with Document Control Services, where applicable, to ensure commissioning records are properly indexed, organized, transferred, and accessible to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Identify and report deficiencies, unresolved punchlist items, readiness gaps, and acceptance risks, supporting corrective-action tracking as directed.
  • Maintain accurate project records and provide clear, timely reporting on commissioning and turnover status.
  • Collaborate across construction, commissioning, engineering, operations, document control, and other project stakeholders to resolve information gaps and keep turnover activities progressing.
  • Support project closeout activities by ensuring required commissioning and turnover documentation is complete and properly transferred.
  • Perform all services in a coordination and support capacity and do not direct contractor means, methods, techniques, sequences, procedures, or workforce unless expressly authorized in writing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally supporting commissioning, startup, turnover, closeout, or similar activities on complex facilities or infrastructure projects.
  • Practical experience managing commissioning readiness trackers, issue logs, punchlists, documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Strong understanding of the coordination required between construction, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and operations teams.
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills, with the ability to review detailed records and identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple project requirements, deadlines, stakeholders, and readiness activities simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to tracking open items through completion.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate progress, deficiencies, risks, and requirements clearly to technical and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and maintain professional relationships in complex project environments.
  • Experience working with systemization and startup planning is a strong advantage.
  • Experience supporting witnessed testing, acceptance protocols, and performance testing is desirable.
  • Experience in mission-critical, semiconductor, or industrial facilities is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and proactively identify issues that could affect project readiness or turnover.
  • Willingness and ability to work within a hybrid or remote project environment depending on project requirements.
  • No security clearance is required for this position.
Benefits
  • Annual salary range of $74,800–$130,900 USD.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including remote and hybrid opportunities depending on project and location requirements.
  • Available U.S. locations include Boise, Idaho; Syracuse, New York; and remote work from any U.S. location.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
  • Life insurance.
  • Flexible work schedules designed to support work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to contribute to major critical infrastructure projects with significant community and operational impact.
  • Exposure to complex commissioning, startup, testing, turnover, and project closeout activities.
  • Collaborative work with multidisciplinary construction, engineering, commissioning, and operations professionals.
  • Opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth.
  • Environment focused on employee wellbeing, innovation, collaboration, and continuous development.
  • Compensation and benefits may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, and applicable employment terms.
