THE CHISHOLM LEGACY PROJECT SUMMARY:
The mission of the Chisholm Legacy Project (TCLP) is rooted in the Just Transition Framework. The project serves as a vehicle to connect Black communities on the frontlines of climate justice with resources to traverse the path from vision to strategy to action plan to implementation to transformation. In support of frontline leadership, the project seeks to link movements and mainstream entities with the tools necessary to advance systems change centered in equity and justice. With Black women on the frontlines of advancing systems change, this project ensures that these leaders have the support they need as they transform society from extractivism to a living economy that cares for sacred relationships between people and with Mother Earth, through regenerative, cooperative, democratic systems.
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The Communications and Narrative Strategy Internship at TCLP is designed to immerse college students in the dynamic intersection of communications, narrative strategy, advocacy, and environmental and climate justice (ECJ). The purpose of this internship is to equip interns with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively communicate complex issues around climate, environmental, racial and gender justice and to amplify the voices of frontline communities. By engaging in this internship, participants will contribute to shaping narratives that drive systemic change and promote Black Liberation and Just Transition.
TCLP seeks a Communications and Narrative Strategy (CNS) Intern with a commitment to supporting Black Liberation and a willingness to be on a learning journey, joining an institution that is grounded in Black Liberation, Climate Justice, and Just Transition. The central focus of the CNS Internship is writing, content creation and digital strategy. This role will focus on using communications and narrative strategy to support frontline communities and help build the world we want to see.
This is an unpaid internship.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following qualifications and competencies:
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in journalism, public relations or mass communications
- A passion for storytelling and using narrative strategies to create change
- Previous communications internship experience is a plus
- Excellent writing skills
- Great people skills
- An organized work style
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Canva and other relevant programs
- A passion for climate, environmental, gender or racial justice
- This position is unpaid and expected to work a 20-hour work week.
- The internship will last six months.
- TCLP will work with colleges and universities to ensure that interns receive college credit where available.
