Engineering Manager, Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Engineering Manager, Platform based in United States.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a high-impact platform engineering team responsible for building the foundations that enable developers to move faster, innovate confidently, and deliver reliable products at scale. In this role, you will combine technical leadership, people management, and strategic thinking to shape the future of developer infrastructure, internal platforms, and shared services. Working closely with engineering, product, and security stakeholders, you will drive initiatives that improve reliability, scalability, developer experience, and operational excellence. The position offers significant influence over technical direction, engineering culture, and platform evolution while providing the chance to mentor talented engineers and contribute to systems used by millions of developers worldwide. Accountabilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of platform engineers through coaching, career development, performance management, and technical guidance.
  • Drive execution of critical platform initiatives from concept through delivery, balancing innovation, reliability, scalability, and speed.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering practices and team processes.
  • Guide architectural discussions and system design decisions, helping teams navigate technical trade-offs and long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Build and enhance internal developer platforms, shared infrastructure services, CI/CD systems, observability solutions, deployment tooling, and operational frameworks.
  • Partner with engineering, product, security, and infrastructure teams to align priorities, define roadmaps, and deliver impactful platform capabilities.
  • Break down complex technical challenges into incremental deliverables that provide immediate value while supporting long-term strategic goals.
  • Champion improvements in developer experience, platform reliability, security, operational efficiency, and engineering productivity.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to identify opportunities for future investment and innovation.
  • Ensure platform solutions are scalable, maintainable, and capable of supporting evolving business and technical requirements.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of engineering experience within infrastructure, platform engineering, developer tooling, or related technical domains.
  • 4+ years of people management experience, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, and performance development.
  • Strong technical foundation with hands-on experience in distributed systems, platform architecture, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale engineering environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead system design discussions and evaluate architectural trade-offs across complex technical ecosystems.
  • Experience building and maintaining internal developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, observability systems, deployment tooling, or configuration management solutions.
  • Proven track record of translating technical objectives and user needs into strategic roadmaps and successful product delivery.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering, developer experience optimization, and operational best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and leadership teams.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment to long-term platform health and team success.
  • Experience working with open-source technologies and modern cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving environments while balancing strategic planning with execution.
  • Experience with highly scalable distributed systems, developer-focused products, or large-scale infrastructure platforms is highly valued.
