The USS Midway Overnight Adventure Program takes guests on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the museum and provides hands-on experiences while onboard a historic aircraft carrier. The Overnight Adventure Program is looking for individuals who are interested in educating and engaging with youth in a fun and entertaining setting. Gain a variety of skills in youth education and programing while making a positive impact on future generations by honoring the legacy of those who have served.

Status: Part time, Non-Exempt—10 hours per week
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: 5:00 pm-10:15 pm and 5:30 am – 10:30 am the following day on either Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday
**Flexible availability required. Days vary based on department needs.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Lead engaging, behind-the-scenes guided tours aboard a historic aircraft carrier, delivering educational and interactive activities tailored to diverse audiences while ensuring group safety and adherence to schedules
- Facilitate guest check-in and orientation processes, coordinating logistics and providing clear instructions to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for overnight program participants
- Deliver exceptional customer service to guests of all ages by proactively addressing questions, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment
- Interpret historical and technical information in an engaging manner, enhancing guest understanding of ship operations and naval history through storytelling and hands-on interaction
- Support program operations and administrative staff by managing group flow, engaging guests during activities, and contributing to a positive, memorable guest experience
- No prior knowledge of ships history needed. Training provided.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education/Experience Required:
- Successfully complete and pass a Live Scan background screening
- Ability to clearly communicate complex historical and technical information in an engaging and audience-friendly manner, consistent with informal education delivery techniques
- Comfortable working and engaging with diverse groups across a wide range of ages
- Capable of performing physical duties, including climbing stairs and ship ladders, completing light manual tasks, and lifting up to 20 pounds
Education/Experience Preferred:
- Experience working with groups of various ages informal or informal education settings
Working Conditions:
- Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is performed on board an aircraft carrier. Shifts vary and require ability to work nights and weekends.
- Physical Requirements: Frequent climbing up/downstairs and ladders; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull/push, lift and carry up to 20 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height.
